i just got an email at work that i will be docked for yesterday as i have no days left for the rest of the year and i am unable to make it up
could you imagine my mother almost died yesterday and you have the nerve to email me that your taking the time out of the paycheck
am i the only one that sees something wrong here im about 20 seconds from walking out
so i write back, ya know with the circumstances you would think that you guys would work something out wtih me
and the response i get is i understand how you feel completely, sorry

I have to tell you that I know exactly what you are talking about. I work in a smaller company. And one would think that would breed a kind of family atmosphere and allow for some bending of things like that. But, you know as well as I do that if people are jerks, they are jerks.
man, way to add insult to injury....no pun intended. I mean, do you think it would make a difference if you like, formally complained about it? Not in a 'poor me' fashion, but in a 'it would be nice to get some support from the people I work for' type of way?

technically NY state allows for bereivement ( i know thank goodness its not a funeral but this should be considered part of it) and that they are NOT allowed to take pay away from days that you worked (or if salary they are not allowed to adjust pay if an arrangement can be made to make up the hours)
