tell me what u think ** update

Long story short the director of catering called me a few weeks ago for my wedding reception hall and asked if I would consider having my cocktail hour in a different part of the hotel...
well i went to look at the other part and am not thrilled but she told me she would put plants in there to lighten it up, have the doors kept open, compensate me some how and would be willing to set it up the way i want...
her compensation was offered an enchancement bar worth $16.00 per person... OR some money off the price. The enchancement bar would be worth more than the price off... I feel as if I should be comepensated more??? What do you think??? I think maybe both things??? I asked for it so we'll see what happens but I was wondering if I am being 'greedy'. I just feel that they are going to make mucho money off of the party that is going in the room my cocktail hour was and also now there are going to be over 800 people using the bathrooms... Like what??? She tells me no problem on the bathrooms but all I can picture is lines lines lines... tell me what u think

** UPDATE Just head back from doc and she told me that I could get money off and the seafood bar... woo hoo. Just gotta email her and get all promised and writing and we are set. Thanks girls for your advice.

good job in asking for both!! I'd fight more for the $$ off per person... and dont froget to get all in writing!! the extra plants and stuff too!!

U either make sure u are being compensated a lot to accomidate them (u should not have to do that ) but in this case make sure u get what u want or don't accomidate them U booked ur CH in that room and that's that!! Whatever u are happiest with!

I don't think you're being greedy at all...they are inconveniencing you, you definitely deserve to be compensated for agreeing to switch rooms

I would def ask for both. You had it originally booked in that room and if your not happy with what she can offer tell her that you will not change rooms.

Do you think that if you had to cancel with them, they would be really accomodating with you?? Probably not....they probably want every last cent that your contract stated! So be sure to get more money taken off........it's not fair for them to even ask you.......

I agree! Honestly, if you are not thrilled with the room then I wouldn't change it! They booked you already and what's done is done. Don't feel pressured to change to accommodate them! Good luck

I agree. In essence your contract with them is for the CH room that you agreed on-obviously they can make more $$$ by moving you for another party so you should definitely be compensated a. b/c it wasnt your original plan and b. b/c you dont HAVE to do this.
Thats what I would tell them, technically I dont have to change rooms at all. Also, if they change any part of the contract there SHOULD definitely be a lot of compensation!!!

The thing is I was never thrilled with the first room either for my ch.... The doc is being amazing about it and is making me feel very comfortable that I don't have to change. But she has been amazing to me so I kinda want to help her out as well, but I want to be compensated. And I wasn't sure if that was too much to ask. Thanks girls you are the best. I will update some more as I know what's happening

if you weren't crazy about it, then say you are not willing to change it. If you are ok with changing it, you must get BOTH enchantment bar and money off.....and a Dessert Bar (or something else that you would like)
Forget about worrying about being greedy. You're paying these people a lot of money! How dare they ask you to switch things. But if they do, and you are ok, with it, you need compensation that is *excellent*
