As of September, I am in a tenure track position.!!! I know its great news, but Im still hesitant in terms of what real job security it is. As long as I am good at my job, they have to find a place for me every year?? I guess Ill ask some of my co workers tomorrow. But no more Leave Replacement!!

It all depends on your district about your security... you are still on the bottom of the totem pole... so if positions ever got taken away or excessed you still may be one of the first ones to go... tenure track or not... and some districts can still ask you not to return... but that is usually only if you make problems or just dont perform your job properly... im sure everything will be fine!! It is very exciting to get a tenure track position and you should be very excited!!! Im super low on the totem pole also... but you slowly pull yourself up and your job gets safer and safer year after year...

Congrats! Just like cbj88 said, that doesn't mean that you are totally safe, but obviously they like you to put you on tenure track! Just make sure you cover your bases and stay out of trouble! Having tenure still doesnt' keep you safe from being excessed in hard times. They begin at the bottom of the senority list and cut upwards. There are more non-tenured people onthe bottom since you begin your senority climb once you sign your tenure track contract.
