TERRIBLE NEWS..NEED SUPPORT

so today Fh was on the phone with FFIL telling him that his payment was due by april 18th..(he was doing $500 and my parents $500)

well he tells us that he didnt know that he had to make payments this soon..that he only agreed to do his portion ( which was $4,000) 2 weeks before the wedding so he doesnt have the money now

to make it worse..FH calls FMIL to get advice and she says that this whole thing is rediculous and even though she wants me to be happy..she will not tak eon 2/3 of the money while my mom and step dad only pay 1/3..that it wasnt even fair to begin with

so
BECAUSE FH HAS TOO MUCH PRIDE he says ( without discussing it with me) that we will take on the 1/3 that his dad was going to pay..

its fine adn all..i mean it is my wedding..but i get paid $5.15 hr + commision and FH gets $11.00 hr..we have a lot of bils to pay..and we were picking up everything for the wedding besides RH anyways..my sister as a gift is paying for Dj so we had to do all the odds and ends and Phtot-video ( $4000) so we were paying the same amount that the parents were paying ust on something else..so it now looks like were paying a total of $8,000 plus all the other things i have to do ( decorations, flowers, invitations, postage, veil, slip..etc etc)

my total earning last year was $10,000

WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO DO..we both have to either get 2nd jobs..or i am moving abck to Florida the end of the month..

I am sorry you are in this sitation. try to think positive and remember there are ways to cut corners and maybe even consider a small loan for part of it or credit card and you could pay it back w/ money you make on the wedding. Good Luck.

i am so sorry that this happened!

I don't really know how to help you but to say what the last person said and try to get a loan. Maybe you can find another job that pays more. You are a hairstylist right? I can't believe they only make 5.15 an hour.. that stinks!!!

I am sorry that you are havinging this problem. Money gets rough around weddings I would get a second job! That seems do-able. Especially since you didnt make that much last year. Would you have time for a part time and ull time job?

is there anyone else in your family or FH's family who could loan you the money until after your wedding? desperate times call for desparate measures. everything will work itself out.

im sorry that this is happening. the best i could say is if you get a second job, maybe at a restaurant or something where you can make extra cash quickly. i never waitressed but im sure some girls on this board could tell you they make serious $$ from tips on a fri/sat night. my friends used tell me they make $300/night that way.

i agree that you could get a small loan or use credit, you wont have to be in debt for too long, you will be able to catch up after the wedding and after your FFIL can get you the $$.

its gonna be hard, but there is a way and im sure you'll find it!

I feel your pain! FH paretns arent paying for anything ( as far as i know) they are older and on a fixed income. My parents are helping as much as they can but we are paying for 90% of the wedding ourselves!! i only make $9.25 an hour and FH has been out of work for the past 2 months!!! he is having a really hard time finding a job. I am looking for a second job and putting almost my whole paycheck aside every week! I think you will be ok. I have learned to cut corners and i am saving $$ any way i can!!! we are staying away from 'bridal' places to save $$ we r doing our flowers thru our neighborghood florist, i got my dress , limo,bridal party flowers,tuxes,video and photo thru wedding world for a great price. We are getting a basic DJ. It will all come together. If you have to cut corners do it!!! we havfe already saved about $6,000 on the wedding by doing this!

seriously? thats below min wage...are you off the books? Either way, you deserve more pay...I don't know how much you make in commission but it doesn't seem to be enough. I would say a second job or a higher paying job would be the best answer. In the meantime..you can try to sell some stuff on ebay? I wouldn't recommend putting it on credit unless its absolutely your last last option. You don't want to enter marriage in lots of debt.

That really *****!!! Have you ever tried to look into working as a secretary or administrative assistant? That is what I am trying to do right now. I am having a bit of a hard time getting in (a lot of the jobs are in Nassau and that's a little too far from me) but you can make 10 an hour or more (I'm hoping for 13-15) it sounds like your job is retail, could you keep that as a second job?

There are also a lot of ways to cut corners for a wedding. I'm probably going to make my own centerpieces and maybe even favors. There are soooo many ways that I have learned so far!!!! FM if you want more ways.

have you or FH really told them how you feel and how its affecting you? I know you mentioned that FH has a pride issue....Can your parents talk to him?

FH and myself, make poop for $$ and we are paying for just about everything, don't get too down it can be done, your social life will become terrible but you guys will figure it out :)

His parents are covering rehearsal dinner only
And my mom is paying $500 for flowers
and my aunt got our DJ
but the hall, dress, hotel, limo and everything else is on us, I know it ***** that it was promised to you, but stuff happens, hell I'm not even really relying on the stuff 'offered' to us....

Second job time and it STINKS!!! I am sorry to hear what is going on lately. No one should be all stinky on you after telilng you that they are paying a certain amount. I am sorry to hear that. If I don't get a good full time job a month after gradaduation its two jobs for me too!

thanks everyone..i wasnt on all day so im just now reading all this..

i am going to get a 2nd full time job..being that i work all nights...

so i think i might have gotten hired today at the post office doing data entry 7-3 M-F..and it pays like $14hr..and all that money will go to savings..so i think we will be ok..

i just have to keep in my head that since were making more..it means saving more..not spending more..cause i have a tendency to do that..lol..

but hopefully it wil get figured out

I'm sorry that you're going thru this - money issues are not fun - ever! But you are def not alone I promise! My parents are covering our deposit for CLM but we are doing the rest and right now it's all me which is stressful - so i know how you feel.

Have you thought of babysitting on the side occasionally - my sis does it and for 6 hours today (2 kids) she got 65 bucks....easy money ya know?!
