Tessa Girls

Hi Ladies,

So I received my email proof from Tessa today and I like it but don't love it. She had emailed me two mock ups and I had written back to combine them but she didn't, its really more of one than the other? Anyway, should I be emailing her back with the revisions now or should I wait for the form for contact revisions? ( her email didn't really clarify and I would hate to go back on the production list!)

anyone who use her have any suggestions? I love her work but was underwhelmed with my invite, and I really need to love it, since its our wedding invitation and I am paying for it.
( especially since my mother hates pocketfolds and I want to win her over!)

thanks!!!

i would really e-mail her and if it means going back on the list than you should. you want it to be perfect and you shouldn't just settle and hope she makes the changes you want. i would be REALLY specific so there is no mis communication.

I didn''t like my first two mockups either. You totally have to give her feedback. Tessa loves feedback and then comes up with awesome stuff. But she wants your comments. :)

i wouldn't waste my time. I wasted months and months working with her trying to accomplish what I wanted.

I see the beautiful work she does for most girls and then others- I feel like she just doesn't get it.

I tried emailing her a description of what I wnated, then my mom tried redescribing it and then I even got FH involved. The clearer I was withmy vision- the more drastic the changes were and even further from what I wanted.

I'm sure I'm a rare case BUT I can tell you- I know of at least one other girl who went through this.

I recommend going to speak with Judi at a Bridal Paperie. She's local and really gets your idea bc the consult is hands on and in person.

Good luck but my advice to you is, don't put all your eggs in one basket with Tessa. My invitations were delayed because I did.

Re: Tessa Girls

I had a great experience with Tessa when it came to designing my invitation. For me she nailed it on the 2nd design so I didnt need any further changes on my mock up... BUT I would say email her because she gave me my DREAM invitation and Im sure she can give you yours...

And I have to say I dont think I was 100% clear on EXACTLY what I wanted. I showed her my colors, my dress, my bm's dresses, flowers and other invitations that I liked and then BAM she nailed it... I made a few tweaks and she got right back to me with changes...

I would say email her again... And its not putting all your eggs in one basket its finding an invitation designer that works! I dealt with her through email and I went to someone IN PERSON BEFORE contacting Tessa who was HORRIBLE to work with... So just because you have a store to go opposed to emailing Tessa DOESNT mean your getting more personal or better service. Tessa was VERY personal with me and plenty of other ladies on these boards... People are human and errors happen OR you just dont mesh well with a person...

I'm very fortunate because she completely nailed my design right from the get-go, and I'm thoroughly obsessed with the way they came out. But we did go back and forth A LOT to fudge the fonts, and then the coloring of the graphics. I think after all was said and done I had something like 7 or 8 digital proofs! But if I just got my first initial two proofs, no, I would not have liked them. I think you should give her the feedback and see what she comes up with.

I wish it was that easy for me- I had about 5 digital proofs and all of them were so NOT what I wanted. It was very frustrating to me because I would be a slave to my email and waiting so anxiously each day for a new proof and checking that waiting list- when all was said and done. I was so happy I walked away from it.

The worst part of it was- seeing her do such nice work for everyone else!!!
At one point I even said 'make it look just like such and such's invitation' (and was settling) AND SHE STILL DIDN'T DO IT!

I thought maybe it was a communication barrier with the way I was describing things so I had my mom speak for me and then FH and still NO CIGAR!

I saw a lot of invitation people in person too and I didn't like their work- I guess the moral of the story is you click with some people and others you don't.

I guess we all have our experiences...

Wow, I guess I was really lucky, she nailed it on my first mock up. I didn't have even one change for her, no font or design changes, nothing! My physical proof was even better than I had expected. I entered the process in mid-March and I'll have my invites in hand at the beginning of next week... Did you send her pics of elements from your wedding and things you liked? I also looked at designs on her website and pointed out some of the elements that I really liked... Maybe that will help? I wouldn't give up just yet, she really is very talented.

May I recommend trying Etsy. I worked with an amazing Etsy vendor who REALLY listened to what I said. FM me for her name.
