TFCU troubles for my family.

TFCU troubles for my family.

I was thinking of switching to this bank because I am a teacher and have heard good things about it.

But TODAY, my mom was told that she owes $27 thousand on her house when she only owes $1,600!! (My mom is anal about bills and I'm SURE shes right)

Then my brother called me and told me all this time hes been paying his student loans they have been adding on what hes been paying, instead of subtracting it and charging him interest on it!

CRAZY! I think I will stick with the bank of NY for now.

We have problems with them ALL the time and they are not even our bank! We are a guest there. They have deposited a check for somewhere else, and recently deposited my dh's check twice so I was clear for the mortgage but then 3 days later my bank had to readjust my account!!
I asked the teller one time how long my check would take to clear and she said 'How would I know?'!!! Do you NOT work at a BANK!!!!

I've been with them for years and never had a problem. I am only thinking about switching now because I work in the city and will be probably moving to queens, and their are no TFCU.s there.

We got a car loan through them... and it turned out to be a major PITA. They didn't know their a$$ from their elbow.

What a bunch of MORONS that this company employs.

Friends of mine have had horrible problems with them - car loan problems mostly.

If you are looking for a CU - I use Bethpage Federal Credit Union - I have never had a problem with them.

I'm in Holbrook and use BFCU. They have a branch in Port Jeff and Bayshore.

Re: TFCU troubles for my family.

I have had MANY problems with Wachovia, I had a dinner on hold 2x on my account! When I went to the bank they said it was the restaurant-when I went to the restaurant it was the bank. IT was for 2 different amounts. The bank finally said that when you run your card they automatically hold $60. and when the actual amount posts the $60 goes away-BUT it never did! Which at the time caused my account to OD...and they wouldnt give me the OD fee back on their mistake! They said I should know they hold xxx amount at a restaurant. In the end, it cost me 70 for dinner 60 for the hold-which they put back 1 week after the 70 posted and then 30 for the OD caused by their mistake...just one instance to name a bunch

ETA:I have also been in SC for 2 years-so I am used to the banks up there...we are a little slow down here if you know what I mean!!

DH has used them since he was a kid and never had any problem at all! When we got engaged I moved all my $$$ into the TFCU account and we have had no problems together!
Personally, I love them! No check charges, no fees, interest on my checking, automatic withdrawal on loans, and free checks! What's not to like!!!

99% of the time... these issues are due to the merchant... not the bank.

Its up to the merchant to release any holds that are on your credit card. In fact... the bank cannot release a hold on your card even if you asked them to. All the banks can usually do is remove an actual 'charge' or dispute a change. But if its not a charge and only a hold... the bank can't really do much.

I knew that much-but they wouldnt get rid of the overdraw even after they explained to me why it had gone into the negative. It was ridiculous. I even had problems closing the account.
