I just started the wedding planning process for our Oct. 2005 wedding and I'm already stressing out...and let me tell you why:
1. I'm not from the East coast 2. I'm a third year law student in the philly area 3. I'll be studying this whole summer for the bar exam 4. My FH lives in Florida!!
My FH is flying up from Florida this weekend, and we're driving up to LI to check out some reception halls. We are estimating that that we will have around 550-600 people at our wedding (not by choice, believe me). Does anyone know of any reception halls or hotels that will be able to accomodate this many people? I'm already planning on checking out Leonards, Crest Hollow, Huntington Townhouse and the Hyatt Wind Watch.
As you can see, its going to be a very stressful year for me, but I'm ecstatic that's there's a resource like this and I look forward to getting everyone's advice and insight.

Welcome and Don't worry you will be fine. everyone will help you and there are great vendor reviews on here to go by. There are a few girls on the 05 boards that are from out of town. As far as halls... What about russo's. I think that is really big.
Just cursious.. if Fh is from Florida and you are not from here.. Are you moving here? Why Long Island?

My FH is originally from Dix Hills, NY, but he moved to Florida because he purchased some commercial property out there. His family still lives in LI, thus the LI wedding. After the wedding, i'll be relocating to Florida.

Congratulations!! I just took the bar in July and I spent tons of time procrastinating on this website, just to warn you. You'll find that you actually have a lot of downtime during the summer after bar review to take care of wedding things. Good luck with your last year of school and welcome to LIWeddings!
ETA: Definitely check out the Garden City Hotel. They have very large ballrooms!

In addition to those three places, check out the major hotels, they're bound to have large enough ballrooms for what you need.

Your wedding date will be my first anniversary!
I found this site so helpful. It's a great resource for vendors. I was working and in school full time practically through most of my planning and coming here saved me a lot of time.
