I just started the wedding planning process for our Oct. 2005 wedding and I'm already stressing out...and let me tell you why:
1. I'm not from the East coast 2. I'm a third year law student in the philly area 3. I'll be studying this whole summer for the bar exam 4. My FH lives in Florida!!
My FH is flying up from Florida this weekend, and we're driving up to LI to check out some reception halls. We are estimating that that we will have around 550-600 people at our wedding (not by choice, believe me). Does anyone know of any reception halls or hotels that will be able to accomodate this many people? I'm already planning on checking out Leonards, Crest Hollow, Huntington Townhouse and the Hyatt Wind Watch.
As you can see, its going to be a very stressful year for me, but I'm ecstatic that's there's a resource like this and I look forward to getting everyone's advice and insight.

Welcome Aboard! The ladies on this site are so very helpful. It's such a great resource. You should also check out this site: http://www.weddingfacilitiesandservices.com
It lists most of the major wedding halls in the metro area, allowing you to sort by region. It also breaks down the site capacity and minimums, location, menus, etc. Don't go by the $$ figures 100% becuase I find that in person the pp quote changes based on time of year and day/night weddings, but it's a good start to formulate a list of places to go see.
Have fun and don't let it stress you out.

Welcome! I'm getting married a week before you are and am still so clueless on certain things, BUT the people on here are very friendly, helpful, thoughtful and know so much about wedding planning, it amazes me!

Welcome aboard!! I am also from OOT and planning our whole wedding (using almost this board strictly)---the girls are GREAT....honest...and won't hold back opinions. Exactly what we need when planning from a distance. I couldn't have done it (nor would I have known where to begin) without this site!! Good luck and congrats!!!

Hope your search went well when you came to LI.
I would recommend getting the Locations book or go online to Wedding Sites and you can select the area you want under 'Select a reception site by region'. It lists locations and gives capacity sizes and prices. This will help give you an idea of what locations could accomodate your needs.

Congrats!!!! I'm new to this site too...my sister is the one getting married, but she's a teacherin NYC so I get to play wedding planner while she is working. This site is sooo helpful.....check out John Anthony's, and check Villa Lombardi's, I know they both hold up to 700 people....
