Thank goodness this didn't happen later into my planning...

So... my laptop broke and my hard drive has failed...

All of my files are gone!!! Including ALL OF MY WEDDING stuff!!! My guest list, my budget spreadsheet, all of my websites I saved, EVERYTHING... this is so depressing I have been trying to log onto LIW from work and my iphone but it's not the same...

The exciting thing is FH is at Best Buy right now getting me a new laptop but I don't think I will ever get all of my pictures and files from the past 3 years back Waaaaah!!!

Hpefully you have some of the stuff printed out so that you have it!

I wish I did Mara... but I don't... I am backing up everything from now on! Thank God I still have over a year before the wedding!

I said this on another post earlier today, but consider making a wedding gmail account and emailing links to yourself instead of bookmarking them in your browser. You can use labels to categorize them if you want. You can also store your spreadsheets, pictures, etc in google docs. That way, if anything happens to your computer, all the info is in the cloud. Plus it makes it super easy to access your stuff from a different computer and to share it with other people!

OMG - the same thing happend to FH laptop and I was saving EVERYTHING on his computer!!! now im going nuts trying to get everything back!

I emailed all of my wedding files to myself. Once theyre online I can retrieve them from anywhere. But youre gettng a new laptop!! Woohoo!

SO VERY SORRY TO HERE...BUT HEY LADIES I BOUGHT ONE OF THOSE MINI FLASH DRIVES FROM STAPLES AND I KEEP IT ON MY KEYCHAIN. I ALSO E-MAIL EVERYTHING TO MYSELF SO THAT I CAN ACCESS MY THINGS ON OTHER COMPUTERS....THIS HAS BEEN A LIFESAVER

My laptop went last uweek. I bought a vga cable and a memory stick. I'm going to plug one end of the cable to my broken laptop and the other end to a different computer and hopefully pull my pics off that way.

I saw a hp on sale at bestbuy for $399 I believe....I don't have the extra money right now to buy a $1000 laptop But I agree with u, we'll always back up our files from now on.

ohhh I learned my lesson with backing things up senior year of college when my laptop crashed and died...

I'm sorry this happened It happened to me a few months ago and I was so devastated because I figured I had lost ALL my pictures, but somehow, miraculously, my brother was able to take it apart and do something where I was able to retrieve my pictures. The computer couldn't be used anymore, though.
