Thank you cards

Was wondering what might be a proper etiquette for sending thank you cards.

We have some adults that still live at home. When sending out invitations, we sent separate invitations to them. Their wedding gift I think was a group gift with their parents. Should we just send one card addressed to everyone in the family thanking them for the gift, or separate ones to the parents and each adult?

I think if they gave you one card it makes sense to send one thank you back to the family (unless someone moved out, etc.).
