Help! I was married in September and haven't done my thank you cards yet (don't have them) and will definitly not have them out anytime soon. Now with Christmas upon us, I am about to start writing my Chritmas cards. Do I mention that a thank you card is on the way? Do I not mention it??? Should I incorporate the two??

Thank you cards & Christmas Cards
i would incorporate the two and make them especially personal - better late than never
oh i also like to tell ppl how i will use their gift even if it's money - like new house or whatnot
A formal thank you will follow, but they are not ready nor are the pictures I would like to include, but please don't think that we forgot about your generosity.

I agree with yabbobay...
Each guest deserves the respect of a separate thank-you card for their generosity and good wishes for your marriage. I think it's poor etiquette to substitute a Christmas card for a thank-you card.
Maybe you can check theknot.com for the 'official' Emily Post answer, but I would rule in favor of mentioning that you are waiting for your photo to be finished, etc.
Have you asked your photographer what is taking them so long? Usually they are pretty good about getting the thank you photos done quickly.
Good luck!

I`m in the middle of the same dilemma, sort of
Our wedding was at the end of September, and I just finally was able to get back to our photographer to give them the photo we wanted for our thank yous. While I was there, I asked them for the cards (thanks for that idea, Kathi!), so I could start writing them and addressing the envelopes. Because of Thanksgiving, it would take an extra week for our photos to come back, so hopefully we`ll have the thank yous written by the time the pictures come back, then all we`ll need to do is insert the pictures.
I`m also gearing up to do holiday cards, but I don`t want to combine the thank yous and holiday cards. I want each to stand on their own, otherwise I`d feel I`d need to go both ways, saying thanks on the holiday cards, and happy holidays on the thank you cards. But I also have intentions on getting all the cards out in the next 2-3 weeks.

Send out your thank you cards asap, even without a photo. You can always send the photo later. Getting the thank you cards in the mail is most important. Combining the thank yous with the Christmas cards is not in the best idea, although I understand the desiree to do so.

I never wanted to combine the two, but at this point, my Christmas cards are going to go out first. The thank you cards will have to go out when they are ready.
