Thank you cards -I need ideas

I just got married on Dec 15, 2007 and need ideas for thank you cards.

How soon should they be mailed out?

Most brides aim to have them out within 3 mos following the big day, but there are plenty who take much longer...things get so busy sometimes! I think within 3-6 mos is acceptable, more like within 3 mos is ideal. JMO!

eta: what are you looking for in terms of an idea for cards? did you get professional pics taken. maybe you can play with them in a online program like shutterfly or kodak or something to make a card or ask your photographer to design one that incorporates a few of your fav photoes. Or...you can always just look for pretty thank yous online to order.
