thank you cards - question

my cousin from out of town bought us stuff from our registry for our wedding gift. we received it this week and our wedding is 28 days (and counting!) away. do i wait and send her a thank you after the wedding, or send her one now?

what about folks who aren't coming to the wedding, who have also sent gifts?

We're still in the process of sending ours out since we're waiting for more pics from our photographer. What I did was, I actually gave them a call and thanked them for their gift and too bad they couldn't make it...(something of that sort) but I will be sending them a card as well.

For the one that sent the gift ahead of time, and I'm assuming going to the wedding, I would wait for the card but call to acknowledge. For the guests not attending, I sent them a thank you card right away.
