I know someone here will know the answer. I'm getting married in February--and just sent out my invites. We're already getting responses!!--However we have received 2 Nos w/ checks. Do I send them a thank you now?--or do I wait until after the wedding?

Re: Thank You Etiquette
You can send it now this way you have one less to write after the wedding. It's usally appropriate to send it out as soon as possible.

Re: Thank You Etiquette
I would say any gifts you receive from those not coming up until about 2 weeks before the wedding should get thank yous right away.

I sent thank yous to those who sent gifts a month or so before the wedding. I will also send one that includes a picture after the wedding.

Re: Thank You Etiquette
Send a thank you card now as a receipt for them to know you received the check. Then, after the wedding, send them a formal thank you with a picture thanking them again for the generous gift.
We did this and I was thanked by them for doing such.

Thats a good idea...we did ours upon recpeipt of gift and then had someone go running to MIL in a tizzy that they didn't get a photo thank you after the wedding and it was a source of drama for everyone involved...just something to be aware of

Someone getting upset about not getting a second thank you is among the strangest things I've ever heard (sorry). I don't plan on doing photo thank yous at all. I've never received one either (and I've been to a lot of weddings). Maybe half the time I get a wallet sized photo in the thank you... I wouldn't ever complain about not getting a photo thank you...
ETA - I do think it's a nice touch to send a photo thank you as a second thank you if you have gifts arrive from those who can't come before the wedding (and you are in fact doing a photo thank you)... however, I don't think it is usually expected to get two thank yous.

It was just beacuse a bunch of MILs neighbors were invited and the ones that came to the wedding or gave the gift on the day of got the photo card but the ones who didn't come and sent gifts early didn't...one lady (who I've never even met) saw someone elses and came and complained...I swear you can never win

Ahhhh! I gotcha! You really can't win... and no one needs the added stress / drama!

This is what I would do

Re: Thank You Etiquette
It's good manners to send a thank you to someone within a month of receiving a gift. Imagine if you sent a gift to someone and didn't hear back from them for 6 months - you'd feel weird about speaking to them in the interim, and even wonder if the mail was okay and they even got the gift. If you want to send them a photo thank you months later after your wedding, hey, nothing wrong with showing extra thanks. I'm sure it would be appreciated.
