I find that if you do this during your salad/appetizer course you can get it over with pretty quickly and efficiently. B/c your MC will be calling you back to the dance floor, so you'll have a definite end. Anyone you miss there you'll have caught at the CH or at the very end. Don't stress!

Re: Thanking guests...?
I would like to go table to table at the reception so that I can be sure I didn't miss anyone. I should only be having about 8 tables anyway (hopefully no more), so I'm not too worried. We'll be trying to keep it short though. I'm just a little nervous because i know that most of the guests haven't even yet met FH (due to the fact that he lives in another state) so they're gonna be eager to get to know him. The wedding is not the time & place for a guest to have a real DISCUSSION with the groom. I'll probably have to be the one breaking it up a little, saying that i gotta 'steal my new husband for a bit' He'll be grateful.
That's why I probably would like to go out there during CH and that way we can use THAT time for 'introductions' and then later we're just saying Hi & Thanks for Coming. But I'm still not sure if I want us to be out there during CH (even tho the BP will be).

maybe I really am rude, but I am not going around to each and every table thanking people. i will try to see as many people as possible, and am going to the CH, but I am gonna be on that dance floor the entire night... i will thank all the dancing guests only!!!
I agree. I will greet people at my CH but other than that, i'm planning on enjoying my wedding. You can't get made at a bride and groom if you see how much fun they are having at their own wedding...

We had 2 photographers; one trailed me and the other trailed DH. So after the first toast and before the 1st dance, I walked around all of my side's tables and the photographer took pictures of me with everyone. DH, meanwhile, walked around his side's tables. Our parents, too, made the rounds. So no one was missed (by either our parents or us). And... we sent teh photos of us with the guests with the thank you cards.

I had 135,, we walked around during dinner orders..then after dinner. didn't take too long but you HAVE TO agree to spend only about 5 mins on each table. Just a quick hello and get out of there. Its' doable...

We did a receiving line at the church and went to tables here and there but when all is said and done I definitely didn't go around and say hi to everyone... there's just not enough time esp. if you want to enjoy the party. don't feel bad.. most people understand and will say bye to you at the end of the night.

Re: Thanking guests...?
I guess I will try to get it done as quickly as possible, and at the very beginning. i am thankful for all the people that are going to be there celebrating with us, but i dont want to spend the whole night chatting with them. i've heard a lot of girls say that they have had some sort of signal with their BM to rescue them away from chatty guests, which i think its a great idea. In our case, i dont know if we will be going to our CH either (although that food better be in the bridal suite or we're gonna have problems lol). we are getting married at the RH, then will (hopefully) be coming in on the yacht, and then introduced again at the reception? it seems a bit excessive to me and i would really rather not just be hangin out with guests at the CH only to be introduced AGAIN at the reception. People are gonna be like 'again with these 2??? we JUST saw you' maybe join the CH for a short time when we first come in and say hi to a few people and then go back into hiding till the reception? dont know

i like that. Going around during dinner orders is perfect. Everybody's sitting and it's not as though you're missing anything. i'm gonna make a mental note

Re: Thanking guests...?
something very rude... well FH and I went to his cousins wedding like 3 hours away, spent a fortune to spend the nite, and at the end of the night, they never once came around to say 'hi' 'thank you' or anything else. They had NO idea of who was actually at their wedding until they opened their cards of course. I understand being pressed for time and wanting to enjoy your day, but it would have taken very little time to just walk around to the tables, say hi, have a small conversation with everyone, and be on your way... at least then you'd know who was at your wedding, and they'd feel like you noticed they came all that way for you and you appreciated it. ************************************************************* This was from a thread called Tackiness at weddings and stuff like this came up quite a bit on that thread.

Re: Thanking guests...?
We had about 180 guests (many Italian too) and my husband and I promised that we would take only 30 minutes and go from table to table to say hi to everyone. Believe it or not, we did it. Took like 4 songs - we just held each other's hands and blew through the crowd.
I say do it, it made so many people happy.

Well, I don't think that people understand that the bride and groom CAN manage to pull themselves away to talk to someone for 5 minutes, but if you mulitiply that by 50 couples...that's 250 minutes.....4 hours. Thats a lot of friggin' time!!! That much time the B+G are NOT willing to give up. In my brother's case, half of the guests were out of town. He couldn't possibly talk to all of them unless he sacrificed dancing and doing all of the 'wedding stuff'.

Re: Thanking guests...?
Our plan was to greet as many people as we could at the CH. We had to miss our CH because I was running so late in the morning so we ended up having to greet guests at the wedding. If you don't greet them, they will greet you and you'll still be stuck talking to guests instead of dancing. We did greet guests for almost our whole reception so we didn't get much time to dance together but you can't snub your guests. They're all there to see you both.
