I was just reading the post about the rudest things that you've seen at a wedding. A lot of people have been complaining about the fact that the B+G did not make rounds to their table. I am REALLY nervous about this for my wedding. I do not by any means want to spend my night 'making my rounds'. I understand that you need to thank people for coming, but I don't want to be 'stuck' talking to someone while I could be dancing! That may sound harsh, but it's the truth!
Those of you that are married...How did you manage your time to talk to people so that you had time to dance and enjoy yourself?

Maybe what you can do is this. After your first dance, do half of the room. After dinner do the other half??? Split it up so that it isn't so overwhelming??

Re: Thanking guests...?
I would rather get it all over with so I can enjoy the rest of the night. I am the type of person that cannot relax until I have done my 'job'. How realistic is it to assume that we can talk to the whole room during dinner? I figure...people are stuffing their faces so they wont talk as much. Was anyone able to make that work? I am having between 130 and 150 people (15 that don't speak a lick of English (Italian)).

Would it be okay to instead of going person to person greeting them to make a public announcement like thank you all for coming... blah blah blah. and then at the end of the night pesonally give out the favors and at the same time great everyone?

Re: Thanking guests...?
what i suggest is going to your CH and getting most of your hello's out of the way there. I wish I did this, one thing I would change if i could. We had 275 guests and could've gotten done with in a decent amount of time if Dh didnt feel the need to have long conversations hahaha.
If you go to your CH, you'll be able to say hello to most of your guests, and if you miss a few then during the reception will probably take no time to say hello to those you missed, and you can do that in the beginning.
And if you have to go to some tables during reception, you and your Fh come up with a plan. Tell him 5 mins at each table for example and once you give him a sign then you need to move on.

Re: Thanking guests...?
I would LOVE to just make a personal announcement to everyone, but I dont think that would fly very well with some people and my mom would be appalled. We didnt want a receiving line and she made a big stink about that.
As for going to the CH, we are definitely doing that. If we are spending all this money on food, we are going to take full advantage of eating it, lol. Although, if I talked to people at the CH, I dont know if I would be able to remember who I talked to...and then what do I do when I get to their table, just skip over them?

I always wondered about that part too, do you just skip them at their table if you do have to go over to that table? I didnt go to CH so not sure how its handled, but what you can do is go over to a table, and say Hello everybody when you walk over, maybe just say 'hope everyone is having a great time' and then thank those you didnt get to thank at CH. This way people dont feel ignored and as a guest if i already said hi at CH i would understand if they didnt come over and thank me again at the reception.
I think when you look at the tables and see whose sitting there, you will remember if you said hello to them at CH or not.

Yea, I think I'm making a bigger deal than it really will be. And I think a lot of people don't plan out that part...so it's a little overwhelming b/c it's unexpected. But like you said...if we talk to people during the cocktail hour, we are golden. We just have to head for the BIG groups! Kill 10 birds with one stone, LOL!

Sounds like a good plan. And like you said its hard to plan exactly ahead of time bc you never know how the day will go. But i do suggest talking to your Fh ahead of time about this and tell him not to stop and talk for too long and that you will have to keep it moving, i told my dh but he forgot once the reception started . I think going to Ch will work out great, so yeah dont worry too much, just go in saying you'll get it done quickly.

Re: Thanking guests...?
yea we did our thanks and major round at Cocktail Hour - we spent enough time to talk to everyone as much as possible then. Then we went up to people on and off the rest of the night during the reception. Looking back we could of done more at the reception but then I couldn't of danced so much. But we had the after party which did help out as well.

do the best you can, but don't stress over it. DH and I did the cocktail hour thank you's and did the best we could during the reception. There is really so much going on it is so hard to get to everyone. And remember- it is you day and you worked hard so you shoulg enjoy it. People have to get over themselves

I think you need to try to get as much out of the way as possible during CH and then go around to each of the tables and say hello and thank you if you missed anyone. As long as people see you're trying, if you miss them because they were dancing or in the bathroom, then you gave it your best shot.
I know it's a pain in the neck but these people came to celebrate your day and likely gave you a couple hundred dollars (or more!) of their money and even more if they had to travel and go to the bridal shower. If you're not gonna say hi and celebrate with them, why bother inviting them?

Re: Thanking guests...?
If it showed up that many times on the rude post, and when I ask my mom to recap weddings that is her main complaint, I think it is a necessity to go to each table. You should be able to get it done before the real dancing begins. And yes, its a PITA, but that is the memory people seem to have from weddings.

Re: Thanking guests...?
Im not going to my CH So it makes it all the more difficult for me. I want that whole announcement thingy that the MC or whoever does when we walk into the main room and I sorta thought it would be weird to do that if we went to CH, its almost like i think guests will b like ummmm shouldnt you have done that at CH? Speaking of that, would it be a bad idea to do that at CH? It seems a little weird to me because CH and the reception itself is in two different rooms so I dont know how to go about things.

maybe I really am rude, but I am not going around to each and every table thanking people. i will try to see as many people as possible, and am going to the CH, but I am gonna be on that dance floor the entire night... i will thank all the dancing guests only!!!

I know a lot of people who have gone to their CH and still get announced at the RH. That's what I am doing. It does seem strange to see the bride and groom at CH b/c they are supposed to make their 'grand entrance', but I have to go to my CH. If you really want to be announced at CH, just have the dj come into the room and do a short simple shout out to you (no music, though). 'Ladies and Gentleman, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mrs. and Mrs. _______', everyone claps and then they go on with stuffing their faces.

we did our rounds and those who were there at the tables, we went and said hell and thank you.. and most of them, we danced with on them, so hugs and thank you were taken care there..
some came up to us.. and then it was only a few people, that we didn't get to talk to.. and some of them were too busy in their own world..

Re: Thanking guests...?
I will go by what my cousin did for his wedding. They came by, kissed everyone hello and walked away lol It was nice, I said 'congratulations' My FSIL said 'where are you HM'ing' and they said 'California, disney world' and then they left with smiles hah I mean, people have to know that they are busy and they want to still enjoy their time.
I am goign to make rounds as quick and as soon as possible.
I will try to do this after our first song, and before dinner is served, this way people aren't stuffing their faces and they aren't really up and dancing yet.
