Although my daughter's wedding is over, I have two more sons who will be getting married. It's nice for us to have our own place to come and chat. Thank you again.

Hi LImom Happy to see you posted here. Lets hope that other moms catch on and join us. I have 11 more days till my sons wedding. Stress has taken over my mind and body. I'm sure you remember the past dramas.
Things are going 'fairly smooth' though I've learned to keep my 'opinions' to myself.
When my daughter comes up here, I'll be having her teach me how to post pictures so I can give a review of the wedding. And just think, after his, I'll be getting ready for my daughters October wedding. Keep in touch!

I agree that it should be kept active. I hope groomsmom sees this. Her son is getting married in the fall. Just wait til you feel the stress and drama of a daughter's wedding. A son's wedding 'ain't nothing' by comparison. I've been through one of each and already I see that there won't be much for me to do for my youngest son's Nov. wedding. It's okay. I saw first hand how crazy brides get and as much as we would have liked help from the groom's mom, she was too far away. I know you are close to your son, so there may be more for you to do. We made so many of the things ourselves that we were calling in friends to help. We made the menus, programs, place cards - all needed holes punched and ribbons tied. We made the favors and rice bundles for the church, as well as over 35 pew bows and swags of tulle. The night before, when I was done decorating the outside of my house with tulle and bows, I wanted something on my door. I could't sleep so at midnight I took an old heart shaped door wreathe I had, pulled off the flowers and glued white silk flowers to it that I had left over from her bridal shower favors. I did get crazy!!!! Tell me how things are going there. I would love to hear. I know we attempted to be in touch last summer, but as you see I was swarmed with work Although I did manage to get to this site quite a bit, it really was just snippits of time, maybe 5 min. between chores and projects. Stay well, keep busy, and be happy. It will show on your face and pictures will be taken whenyou least expect it. Just a word of advice. LOL!!! No one has it perfect - everyone has a complaint with one thing or another. We want our children happy and I'm sure your son is. You'll have your share of crazies with your daughter - even if it's long distance. Will you be spending time down here for her October wedding? Keep in touch.

Hi Frescabride, how sweet to see you here. I glance at the topics occasionally, but I haven't really posted much. No reason really, just nothing to add I guess. The girls all have eachother and their OWN moms. LOL! Please be in touch. I'd love to help you any way I can - FM me or post here. I'd like to stay in touch with you and the other moms.
Let me know what you are up to - projects? plans? worries??? All the best, Mary

Re: Thanks for a place for Moms to exchange ideas.
Your right LImom, there really isn't any stress for my sons wedding, just bull stress. I can honestly say, the BTB really lost a lot when she shut me out. I'm a very creative, compassionate, warm loving mom and would of given her my right arm, but her attitude is just unbearable. Thank god my daughter is not like that. shes my dream. I had asked the m FDIL back in April what she ws doing about flowers. I then said that I would love to help and ALL the flowers would be my contributation, shet old me she didn't know. So a month or so ago, I asked my son, he said that they weren't doing flowers. I ASKED him if he wouldn't mind me doing flowers just for our family (7) after all, it would be a real slap in the face for his only grandparents not to have flowers. He understood and said, 'go for it mom'. Last week she called me with yet another major attitude about me ordering 7 flowers. I told her I got my sons 'permissin'. She asked what I ordered, I told her all roses. then she said 'well I want everything to be the same (yuk) so cancel yours.' She treated me as if i was a stupid woman and didn't know what I was doing. Fine, I cancelled the next day, lost my deposit and now let her do it all.
So thats the update. I'll keep you posted. Gina

Gina, I'm really sorry to hear what you went through. What on earth is wrong with having extra flowers? Everyone loves flowers!!! Was it centerpieces you had ordered, or corsages for special family members? I'm sorry that I didn't quite understand. If she didn't like the colors you chose she could have easily requested you go from pink to peach, for example. She is a stupid girl! It is obvious you have a lot of love in your heart and a generous nature. She will lose a lot in the coming years. Are all the RSVP's in yet? We were still getting some well past the requested due date. How many people are expected? Have the tables all been arranged? That was the hardest thing for me to do. Then last minute a dear friend's mom passes away and we had to rearrange the table right next to ours, and the one her children were to sit at. I dread having to do tables again. I do hope you'll post pictures. What is the plan if the weather is not good? Are tents going to be set up? Mary

Hey LIMom...so glad to hear all is well. I will keep in touch and so far, I can't complain. Things are coming along but I'm not one person to worry too much. My FH calls me Ms. Positive. I feel that decisions are made when is the right time and I'm always expecting the best, so why worry? I think some BTB get really worked up and frantic about every little detail and lose sight of what it is they are really celebrating. Not me! I'm one of those that believes, that the less stress you give your heart, the longer you live. I think it's superb when moms try to help and be part of this experience. I must say that I consider myself very fortunate because my mother and FMIL love me and want the very best for me and FI. I think BTB forget to compromise and forget that their FI have moms and that they only want to help but I must said I've seen some moms really get carried away at times and forget to be objective. I'm really sorry to hear the lady named Gina and her relationship with her FDIL. It's sad because she doesn't know what she is missing out. I thought it was really sweet of you wanting to include and making feel other members of the family special. And you are just offering your help. Sorry you are going through that. Where is your son getting married? Like LIMom said, enjoy and be happy for your son. Enjoy the day for you and your loved ones and be there for your son regardless of the moments that have not been too pleasant. After all, seeing him happy and being there for him should be your only concern so smile away !!! I don't know any of you personally but you all seem to be classy and sweet ladies. Life is too short to worry about things that don't make sense and people attitudes. I also say, when someone is upset about what someone said or did....Look at the source where everything is coming from and then everything makes sense. Once you look at the source, then you start realizing that it's not worth your time, getting upset, or waste energy on that and to stop smiling. So smile away Gina and be happy for the ones that are more meaningful to you on that day!! I can't wait to see pics and a review.

Re: Thanks for a place for Moms to exchange ideas.
Frescabride, you are indeed a very unique woman. I don't know how old you are but you are very mature and sensible and possess more wisdom than many woman my age. It's wonderful that you are so positive and have this whole wedding process in perspective. It is one day out of an entire life-time, and probably will cost more than anything else you will ever buy besides a home. Isn't that mind boggling? That an 8 to 10 hour day will cost more than the average automobile, more than any vacation you can dream of, and more than all the gold and jewels most of us accumulate in our life time. I love when you say 'look at the source' when things are said or done. My husband says that all the time. Most of these hurtful people are self-centered and insensitive. We can't take it personally because they would do these things regardless of who you are. Everything is about them, and there is no room for anyone else in their hearts or in their thoughts. Fresca, your groom is a very lucky guy, and I'm sure you picked yourself a really great one too. Talk to you soon I hope. Mary

LIMom..... those words were sooo nice. Like I said before, I think a lot of BTB get carried away with every little detail forgetting the essence of what a marriage really is. I try to keep things in perspective and yes...isn't it amazing that we spend all that money in one day... but since it is a celebration of starting a new life together, then it is worth it. I must say that you are all amazing ladies with kind hearts and so understanding and helpful. As you start your second planning for your son, Enjoy !!!!

Thanks FrescaBride. I know I'll be a lot more relaxed for my son's wedding and there won't be nearly as much stress. By the way, I love your avatar. Is there any significance associated with it? I ask because my husband has a poster in his store that is somewhat similar and when I saw it it reminded me of you! Take care.
