If she said no boxed gifts, you could get something from her registry and have it delivered to her house. If your giving money, I would say at least $200. It also depneds on what day it is and where.

I'd say at least $200 but maybe more if it's a Saturday night

Re: wedding gift amount
I don't think the day really should determine the gift you give. The guideline I was told to go by was to cover your plate about $100 pp. This does not mean you have to cover your plate so to speak. And it doesn't mean you have to give more if it's a Saturday IMO.
If you can't afford more than that then you should only give what you are comfortable giving.
If you are not attending, you can give a smaller gift.
And on a side note, the invitation did seem to scream cash only which is way tacky.

Re: wedding gift amount
maybe you should just skip it and send $50 or $100.......
sounds like your friend is hosting a fund raiser, never heard of telling people to give you money on an invitation!

Re: wedding gift amount
You deft want to cover the plate. I would say the amt would be $200. If it's what you can afford drop it to a $100. But the going rate is $200.
Good Luck!

I agree. If she's not a close friend and you're not thrilled about going (which it doesn't sound like you are)... just skip it and send a smaller amount. GL!

Re: wedding gift amount
If you are 'uncomfortable' about going I wouldnt go and send a gift. And at that point the amount doesnt matter, we received alot of gifts from people who RSVPed no and was shocked regardless of the amount, Some gave more and some gave less-but regardless they sent a gift even tho they didnt come.
I had people who DID NOT travel to my wedding, bring their BFs and only give 150 and less....didnt even cover their plate BUT I understood the situation that they were in.

Re: wedding gift amount
Given the fact that you will be travelling and she's not a close friend, I'd say $200 is a nice gift.
However, with the inconvenience of the trip and the fact that you are strapped for $$$ (+ the cost of round trip gas $$) I'd suggest RSVPing 'no' and sending a smaller gift like $75 or maybe even $100.
You could possibly buy her something nice on sale from Fortunoff or Macys or Crate & Barrel nd then ship it to her but if they are planning to move to CA it really would be an inconvenience to them (even if they are tacky about informing you).
