not tacky @ all. I say if that's when you and your FH want to get married then go for it and get married. Don't worry what other people say b/c no matter what day who chose someone will have something to say about it.

Personally I won't do it because I just think it's important to respect your guests time off, ie if they want to schedule a 4 day weekend they can do so.
A cousin of mine had her wedding this year during the 4th of july weekend and I was kinda bummed that I had to stay in town for her wedding...
It's not tacky, but personally I won't do it.

I don't understand why it would be tacky? A Sat is a Sat and if people really want to be at your wedding then it doesn't matter what weekend it is!
IMO you have your wedding whenever you want to have it and those that want to come will come no matter what day or weekend it is.

Go for it, girl! People who are coming in from out of town may actually make a whole long weekend out of it! And everyone gets an automatic extra 'recovery day'! Just send Save the Dates so people can plan/book flights, etc. Good Luck!

No, not tacky - I am getting married in Sunday and the rationale we did it on the holiday weekend was that many of our families are from out of town and we wanted to give them a day to travel up and back home - so they didn't have an excuse not to come! It worked out well as most of our out of town invitations have come up for our wedding.

I also agree that it will make it easier for your guests to travel and have the extra time. Those that dont want to be there cause they are making plans, just does not want to be there.
