What is everyone doing for thanksgiving? Do you go with your family or FH? We usually switch off every year. Last year we had thanksgiving with my family and christmas with his. Then we switch it up the year after. Its soo hard, I can't wait to have a house and be able to have everyone over.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
FH's parents are coming to my Grandma's this year. Then on Friday we will drive up to New Paltz to hang out up there (where his parents live).
This is the only overlapping holiday since I'm Jewish and FH is Catholic so it works out nicely.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
We do an early dinner with my family then again a later one with his family, it works out usually pretty good.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
We usually split the family time, but now we have a family of our own . Soooooooooooo, I just want to have our 1st Thanksgiving alone. If family wants to stop by, thats fine, but I'm cooking for my boys

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
This is our first Thanksgiving together (yes, we're moving quickly!). My parents are divorced so things get complicated. We are starting with my dad's family, going to my mom's for dinner and then dessert with FH's family. I can't wait until we have a house and everyone can come to me!

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
this is still being decided.... FH's mom is cooking at their house & I always go to my aunt's house for thanksgiving... I'd rather honestly split up & just go to my aunt's house... but if FMIL ever decides when she is cooking this turkey.. we'll probably eat there and then go to my aunt's for dessert.
We have never had thanksgiving together so we wanted to this yr.
I wish i could just go into the city and see the parade and eat out lol.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
We try to switch every year as well. Dinner at my house one year and dessert at his. Then visa versa the next (we can only do this b/c we live like 5 min from each other).
So I think this year is dinner at his house, dessert at mine.
Christmas is easy. His family has always been into Christmas Eve and mine has always been into Christmas Day!

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
FH has to work on Thanksgiving until 6pm so FFIL and I are doing the cooking, that way it will be all done for when FH gets home from work.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
A lot of running around, but thankfully my family always starts things earlier than FH's. We start the day with my family then go to his at night.
