What is everyone doing for thanksgiving? Do you go with your family or FH? We usually switch off every year. Last year we had thanksgiving with my family and christmas with his. Then we switch it up the year after. Its soo hard, I can't wait to have a house and be able to have everyone over.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
we do both for thanksgiving. my family eats at 2 and his eats later so it works out perfectly. our parents only live like 10 mins from each other. as for christmas my family doesn't do anything on christmas eve so we go over his family's. then on christmas day we do my family in the afternoon and his at night.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
usually i stay @ my parents house and he goes to his families we usually split up and do not see each other but this year - my parents are moving on Friday & will be closer to FH's sister's house so maybe dinner with my parents in the new house and dessert with his fam....

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
We're going to see FH's family upstate for Thanksgiving and then doing Christmas with my family. It's so hard splitting up the time during the holidays. We're going to have to come up with better plans after we're married!

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
we're stuck here b/c fh has to work on thanksgiving. =0( our families are too far away to make a short visit (his is 3 hrs away in houston and mine is a 3 hr plane ride away back in ny. ::sigh:: i miss ny...). his dad's gonna come up and be with us for the holiday though, which is nice. i'm still gonna miss being in ny though.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
I'm trying to get my FH's parents to come to dinner this year. So far no respose yet. No worries either, they can just show up at the wedding and I'll be very happy. I've been going through this for years. It will be a happy turkey day no matter what.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
Since I ate with FH's family last year, he is eating with my this year. We have decided to switch every year.
As for Christmas, we always do Christmas Eve with my family (since we're Italian and have the big celebration and mass together) and then Christmas day I open up all my gifts, have breakfast with my family- and in the afternoon I head over to FH's family.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
We are lucky b/c my parents go away with my older sister every year so we have Thanksgiving the Sunday before so that leaves Thanksgiving day with FH's family.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans
Last year (when we first moved in together) we went to my parents on LI for dinner and drove the 1.5 hr. drive to Westchester to have dessert with his fam...this year we are going to do the whole shabang with my family bc his mom doesn't want to cook so they are going out to dinner! FH and I didn't want to be in a restaurant on Thanksgiving...so it worked out :) For Christmas, we'll do what we did last year...dinner on Christmas eve in Westchester and drive down to LI on Christmas for a few days. I don't know how this will work once we have kids!
