thanksgiving tomorrow

thanksgiving tomorrow

Hi everyone - get this:
I'm making Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow for FH's parents and his mom's best friend. I have finished all the shopping and bought the turkey for 5. A few minutes ago we get a call - 'Can FH's cousin and her three kids under 6 come too?' I about had a coronary right there. Our apartment is small and we had to move out our coffee table to fit a table for five people....we told them the cousin could come, but not all the kids. I'm worried I'm not being gracious. What do you think?
Thanks

if you don't have the room - it's a matter of logistics. Simply explain to her that you can't fit them...that it's a tight fit with all the adults & you wouldn't want to stifle the kids & not give them room to play!

good luck with all that cooking & have a nice time!!!

well, does the cousin have someone who can watch the 3 kids? If not, then it may be seen as if you don't want him/her to come at all. If you don't have the room, you may just want to explain the situation instead of agonizing about graciousness.

I did explain, and she seems ok. There is someone to watch the kids. I don't know them too well, so I just want to make a good impression.

Back to cooking! Thanks!
