Re: Thatched Cottage?
FM my sister MattandTricia07 about her experience...
I attended a wedding there this past Saturday. Unforunately it rained , so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful grounds. The food, service and presentation was excellent! It was definitely a 10!! FM me with any questions.

My sister was married there in May '04. What I remember most - the grounds outside are beautiful, but if you're planning a daytime ceremony at that hall you must beware of the firehouse next door and the noon whistle. It went off right in the middle of my sister's vows.
Nothing else stands out in my mind.

Re: Thatched Cottage?
My sister had her (first) reception there, in the room that's on level with the grounds. We had the cocktail hour outside and it was very nice. It was a long time ago so I don't remember much but I do remember parking was a little bit of an issue.
Mom and I went there to check it out for my wedding and we couldn't guarantee the minimum for the downstairs room, so there's a room on the second floor to the right that we were looking at. Good view but we weren't enamored with the decor of the room itself. It's a weird shape and has a small dance floor. Plus, you don't have use of the grounds for cocktail hour if there's another wedding at the same time.
The BM was super nice, we loved her. Their menu has a lot of interesting stuff to choose from, a lot of little touches. It was a bit out of our price range and when FH saw the pictures of the place, he hated the decor. So that settled that.
I'm not sure where your ceremony will be but they have a gazebo at the end of the grounds where you can get married. There's a cute little walkway where you cross a wooden bridge and a path right down the middle to the gazebo.

The FD by me goes off at 6pm and is SUPER loud. Something to keep in mind like you said!

We are having our wedding there and i can't wait. I do have to disagree with green freak though because the TC does only one wedding at a time. So far, i am extremely happy with the TC and can't wait to have my wedding there.
The grounds are gorgeous and it is a very romantic setting.
The dance floor holds a ton of people and there is plenty of room in the upstairs room. We invited 274 and should have no problem.
The menu itself looks outrageous, we are having everything from sushi to italian. I can't wait.
FM me for more info.

Really? I wonder if their policy changed. Because I specifically remember her telling us that we would not have use of the grounds since we were looking at the smaller room. I would think if they were only doing one wedding at a time, they would allow use of the grounds, maybe for a fee? That's weird.
This could all be a moot point anyway, if she has more than 100 people then the bigger room is it.

About the 1 event at a time rule...a friend of mine got married there last year and they were the only wedding there, but there were a few other parites going on in the smaller rooms...they did tell her that there is only one event at a time, so she was less than pleased when we arrived and saw the other parties going on....

Maybe they mean only one wedding at a time, but there may be smaller non-wedding parties in the other rooms. It's possible the BM told me that the grounds wouldn't be available if there wasn't another 'party' instead of another 'wedding'. *shrug*

I went looking there for my wedding, It was very pretty but the one thing that turned me off was that they charge you $1,000 house fee for using them on top of everything else you pay for.

are you serious? I think that's one of the few things that might really make me go a little 'bridezilla.' That's completely unacceptable, in my opinion... if you say one wedding at a time, that means ONE. And saying 'oh, well, it's a party not a wedding' really doesn't cut it. That's flat out false advertising.
Anyway. The Thatched Cottage is lovely, although I must admit I found it to look a bit run down...

Didn't you say this last time and i made you re-track your words cause you hadn't been there in a couple of years?
My coordinator guaranteed we would be the ONLY party there.

Re: Thatched Cottage?
They have a ton of food and good prices.
They most defenitly have morethan one party at a time, but only one wedding. A baptism or e party or engagement party could als be there too.
I know this for a fact because my sister works there during the summers. And she still oves the place and wants to get married there. I think that says alot.

I had my engagement party there and it was gorgeous! We had it in the room on the main floor overlooking the bay and we got so many compliments on the food and the service. The grounds were breathtaking - i can't even describe how happy we were with it!
