I just thought i'd try to find the others who are having a SPECTACULAR wedding at the Thatched Cottage! I am so happy to be getting married there..the food is awsome and everything is beautiful!
Just thought i'd share in a gush with others...or maybe to share information or advice from ones with experience?

We may venture over there after the wedding around 5:30pm if there is no fee... Do you know what the deal is over there? Can you just show up?

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
Good Luck , RobNette!!! You day is close! (tell Vinny from HV I said hello!!)
For those who posted about the Vanderbilt Mansion in Centerport.. We took pics there between church /reception at TC (we had quite a large gap) If I recall correctly Teach2B and Cocoa took pics there as well
I can give whomever wants it the contact info, but 2 big things: (1) yes, there is a site fee .. ours came to $300 and (2) you have to pick the specific locations at the Mansion you wish to take pics at. The more spots you want to take pics at, the more expensive it gets (I think its $50 each site, I don't have the contract in front of me)
Carol is the contact person and she is really flexible, so its not as complicated as it sounds.
They usually require at least 2 weeks advance booking, but I would book earlier just in case your date isn't available. We lucked out -- ly booked it two weeks to the day , and thankfully nothing was going on there.
Its SO beautiful and I thought it was money well spent . But you do not get any money back if rains , though you can use the inside of the mansion in that case
FM me if you want specifics

I love this thread!!!
I'm considering TC and I'm intrigued by all I've just learned and want to learn more: -- microbrews??? we were told draught and that's it -- cutting thing out of the CH??? my wallet likes that idea -- draining the pond? does anyone have any more info? -- did anyone get out of that ridiculous 'house charge'?
many thanks! with your help, I may become a full TC-ite!

Hi!!
They have the option to add on more beers than their standard beers for $1.00 plus per person.
I didn't cut anything out of the CH, just chose NOT to add on some things, but every event is different.
They've assured me that they don't drain the pond on weekends.
No - house charges are pretty standard across the board.
So far I've been really pleased with the service we have gotten. You need to prompt them sometimes (follow-up calls, etc.) but when you are there you are made to feel really special.
If you have any other questions, feel free to FM me or post here!!

Im getting married there June 26, 2005!! I cannot wait!! Anyone else having a Mashed Potato bar? We are also having Gyro Station and a Mexican Station. And we added the cream puff swan desserts with Chocolate Mousse in them!!
Anyone know if they have fixed the fence in the back yet? When we were there a few months back they said they were having the whole fence repaired

We are having the sweet potato mashed potatos and the wasabi infused mashed potatos. No other fancy sides I don't think. We did add the Martini bar though!!
I was there over Labor Day to make all our final selections and I didn't see any fencing issues.
Annette!!! Congratulations and much much luck!!! Have a beautiful day and I soooo can't wait to hear how it all went!!!

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
Good question about the fence. All I was told was that they're replacing the carpet and expanding the band area in the winter.
Has anyone been there/talked to them this week about the newly-approved construction at the Centerport FD, right next door? Any idea when it begins, how long it lasts and if there are any decibel limits on it?

Any news on that? I don't know anything about it. I'm down to Thatched Cottage and Chateay LaMer as my final choices.

Re: Thatched CottageITES!?!
My FI is really mad at that crazy house charge on top of the maitre'd tip and service charge. No other place has that charge, so I don't know what's up with that.
Also, I know one other bride was able to slim down the CH to reduce the price. Anyone else able to do that. I'm going to talk to Toniann when I do my taste-testing. I wonder if I can remove some of the stations, and reduce the number of dinner choices to get my pp charge down a bit. It's already pretty low being a sunday afternoon in April, but I'm hoping to get as low a price as possible to spend more on my vendors.
Any suggestions from the TC pros?

Hey ladies,
I'm going to my food tasting at Thatched Cottage. They had sent me a postcard saying to make an appointment to come tast their hor' doevres and french champagne.
Do they give you tasting of the actual entrees as well? I was wondering what to expect when I go tomorrow.
Thanks!
