From one of my grandma's sisters - but she's not that old. Young enough to know better.
She gave us 4 canisters of differing sizes, 2 large ceramic spoons and one fork to place on the wall, and a BREAD BOX, all in this style:
(this is not the actual stuff, just a pic of other items in the line that I found on eBay).
My Grandma and I are still craking up about it - what the hell are we supposed to do with them? I told Grandma she has to keep them, it's her sister.
(Sorry if I seem ungrateful, but this woman bought *8* people to the wedding and this is all I got from them)
ETA: I found and added a pic of the actual canisters on eBay as well.

Re: The ABSOLUTE worst wedding present I got
She said that they're recently from Jamaica and so don't know any better. I can almost understand that, but why not get me the ones with fruit or grapes or something. Even Palm Trees I saw on eBay - but MUSHROOMS??!!

Re: The ABSOLUTE worst wedding present I got
LOL those are very interesting!
Hey, FH and I got $5 from an older person at his mom's church. FH could not stop laughing when we opened the card. I told him that it was $5 more than we had yesterday and that they are probably on a fixed income. But if they were actually coming to the wedding, I would probably would have been like W T F!

That really made my day. At least you got the whole set.
I have a feeling I may get some similar gifts. Or, maybe even not as nice.

Re: The ABSOLUTE worst wedding present I got
Hey Nadine... at least it's not just ONE thing that's ugly... it's a whole set! Imagine if it was just one item, then all the other items would make fun of it... at least they run in a group now.
I say dispose of, and claim that a cat, dog, or FH (I'd blame mine! lol) broke each piece by freak accident.

Re: The ABSOLUTE worst wedding present I got
Believe it or not those are collectors items, they look like part of the Merry Mushrooms set that Sears sold in the 1970's and there are collectors out there that will pay good money for that set in good condition.
I know they look silly and most of us wouldn't want them in out kitchen.
I would try to send them to replacements.com and see if you can get something from your set in return, or sell on ebay. The more complete the set is and if it has no crazing or cracks I've seen people pay up to $50 for the canisters and $20-$30 for other pieces.

No, these are brand new, not from Sears. I saw the other ones when I was on eBay, and these are not those - those are actually less ugly than these.
