I'm young, and I will just be finishing college when I tie the knot. Even so, family members (especially the ones on FH's side), think it's appropriate to keep asking when we will be giving them grandchildren/nieces/nephews etc and are offended when we say we don't plan on it any time soon. I get the question - why get married if you aren't ready to start a family? - all the time all of a sudden. Does anyone else seem to be getting that same pressure?

Re: The baby question
Marriage is not about having kids but having a life with each other. If kids is what you want then great but do it in your own time. For me, I'll be just shy of 35 before I walk down the isle and have only recently talked of having children. I will still be in no rush once we are married. If its in the cards it will happen. Don't let people pressure your decisions. I just smile and nod!

Re: The baby question
I found it very rude!!! I get a lot of pressure as well. A co-worker even told me my biological clock is ticking and I'm not even married. Like really?!? One its no ones business but yours and your fh and two there is no time line you have to follow. People have kids before marriage. Just keep doing what you are doing and keep responses short, sweet and change the subject quick. I plan to go back to school before I think about kids. People get married all the time and don't have kids.

Re: The baby question
I used to get asked this question, up until my sister in law just told us she was expecting! So now it is no pressure on us, which is good thing for nice. Since I want to enjoy married life and travel and do things together before we settle down to start a family!

Re: The baby question
It's inevitable that people will ask, esp right after you get married.... I'm not looking forward to that question LOL. I'll just say 'if it happens, you'll be the first to know' and smile lol

Re: The baby question
Yep - I'm 25 years old! My Mom had 3 kids by the time she was 24. I keep getting 'when I was your age, I had 3 kids' Ugh.

Re: The baby question
I'm pretty sure my family is avoiding the question because they don't want to hear a certain answer.lol. I'm the oldest of my siblings...I'm pretty sure my parents want to hold off on being grandparents for a while. Good thing, because like many of you I want to enjoy being married and travel for a few years!

Re: The baby question
Family members always have something to ask about, when my Fiance and I were still dating the question was 'when are you guys getting married?' ALL THE TIME...Now that we're actually engaged, the question is 'So when are you going to have kids?' We just shrug it off, it's our lives and if it happens it happens but for now we're just enjoying each other, so don't let anyone pressure you.

Re: The baby question
I agree... It is easier just to laugh it off.
We were always asked... when are you getting engaged. We get engaged, then its when are you getting married. When we get married it will be...so when are you having kids. Then you have a kid....so when is the next one coming?
FH and I both still live at home. I would like my OWN space with just FH and I for a while!

Re: The baby question
It seems to be a very popular and highly inappropriate question. I personally would never ask someone a question like that. I tell people who won't stop asking that I am barren. That usually takes care of it.

Re: The baby question
Around the time i got engaged, a family friend asked WHEN we wanted kids, and I said 'oh, we're not going to have them,' to which she responded 'I'm so sorry to hear that!'

Re: The baby question
The only person bugging me about this one is my 10 year old sister! She wants to be an aunt so bad. Everyone else that has asked had agreed that we should enjoy married life for a while.

Re: The baby question
My family is the opposite. They are telling me to wait. FH's dad is in a rush though.
