I just read that the check Andrew wrote out for Jen's gorgeous 3.00 carat engagement ring was for $48,000!!!! Holy cow! So let's see...2 months salary is $48,000, which means $24,000 per month which means.... $288,000 per year (but it's probably a lot more than that). No wonder Kirsten was ready to throw up . I bet even Tina Fabulous was puking over losing out on that . j/k
Seriously that ring is absolutely beautiful and I love what the jeweler told Andrew about the shape. He said that ovals have the largest surface area and represent a large family and happiness. I really hope they make it because I like her a lot.

WOW...i honestly thought that the ring was ALOT more expensive than that...especially since it was from Tiffanys. I thought a ring that was over 3 carats and was a good color and quality would retail for more than that.
Hey...do you think Andrew paid for the ring or do you think the show did?? It doesn't seem fair to make him pay for a ring that he had to get and had to pick out in like five minutes...i know my fiance spent MONTHS picking out my ring!

i thought i saw jen walking into tiffanys...at least that is what the sign on the outside of the store said...even so...from the way that ring was sparkling it had to be almost flawless...i would think it would be more than that!

Ok...if the 2-carat ring solitaire costs about $47,000...andrews ring had to be MUCH MORE!
I think it all depends...I have an oval and the jeweler told DH that it wasn't 'in' like the rounds were (but I wanted oval)...so an oval cost less than the round...supply and demand...
I looked over to DH when they said ovals are for big families in shock!!

Maybe they gave him a discount because of the show and the free publicity? Who knows. I am sure that he paid for the ring himself. They showed him writing out a check for it on the show. All I know is that to me at least, that is one heck of a lot of money for a ring. In my next life I want to come back as a rich girl so I can buy myself stuff like that!

I think they are couting the baguettes in the 3ct weight.
Also - the shape of a diamond changes its price. Certain shapes are easier to cut and thus cheaper. But $48K sounds too little for one 3ct ring from Harry Winston.
Edited to add: Firestone is rich, rich, rich....money is not an issue to someone who has always had those resources at his disposal.

I have an oval diamond- but not from Harry's and not $48K.
I HIGHLY doubt that a $48K purchase is considered 'huge' in his family. That girl hit the freakin jack pot last night. I told Scott they should have had little $ symbols floating everyway! I wonder how many more weeks she will be a sales executive before she leaves Chicago for the Vineyard.
