The best place to vacation in Florida? Less than $600 for 3-4 days? UPDATE: We're off to CALI!

FH and I are considering spending a long weekend in Florida from around 12-13-06 to 12-16-06.

Anyone have any hotel suggestions? We're open to any city: Miami, Ft. Lauderdale...whatever....

We don't want to spend more than $600 for the whole trip... including airfare + hotel.

Thanks in advance Any suggestions would be appreciated!

By the way: FH isn't into cruises, so that's out of the question.

Look on hotels.com I know my sis found one in orlando for this past weekend for only $44 a night.

Hmmmmm Jeanine, I am not sure of anything in FL, but I think if you book within two or so weeks of your departure date you can qualify for last minute travel deals on sites like Travelocity and Expedia. You can prob go somewhere like the DR for that much on a travel deal...

Thanks for the link Jenn!!!!! After obsessing over it last night, I found some GREAT deals on Orbitz.com.

If we book the hotel + flight + car together, we can actually spend 3 days in West Palm Beach at the Mariott for about $535.

We could even do California for under $600!!!!

I'd love to go to the DR or someplace outside of the US, but my passport expired!

I've recently been travelling back and forth to Florida (my parents retired there last year).

Check out Tampa (and Ybor city). Its a fun city. I'd also look into St. Petersburg (20 min from Tampa).

Josh and I are going down there in a few weeks. After we visit my parents for Christmas we're going to spend 4 or 5 days in Madeira Beach (it's basically like the Florida version of the Carolina's Outer Banks - if that makes sense...?). It's connected to St. Petersburg. Its a TOTAL beach town. We're staying in a motel ON the beach. It's a bunch of shops, beaches, and restaurants. I think we're going to be paying $110/night for an oceanfront room.

It's a cr@p box...but its cute, quaint and beachy. This is my second time staying there! It's a bunch of fun!! You would fly into Tampa. From Tampa its about a 30 minute car ride....

So.. do you guys usually rent a car out there? Necessary? I'm so upset that the rent-a-car companies require drivers to be 25 yrs old! FH is only 24... I'm 21 (22 on Tuesday- Woohoo).

After MUCH thought, we've decided to go to Cali! A bit since we'll be getting a hotel and car for 4 days but it should be lots of fun! I can't complain
