The big debate: Ivory or White - POLL

Ok, I've gotten a little to 'in' to the wedding planning...but hey, we're spending a lot of money here, so I should be entitled to care, right?

When I went to my tasting at Capitale they had ivory tablecloths on the table, with white napkins. Well, the lights were up pretty high and it looked terrible....then Capitale explained to me that they will put ivory napkins with ivory tablecloths for the wedding. Well, we have white centerpieces (tall white calla lillys and some low centerpieces of three small white ones together)...anyway, everyone there said I should do the ivory tablecloths, because when the lights go low, nobody will be able to tell, and the ivory will look less 'stark' in the room.

The final verdict seemed to be (what everyone there thought), that I should do the ivory tablecloths with ivory napkins....BUT, my centerpieces are white flowers...won't this look like crap??

im voting for ivory. i think that even though they are white calla lillies, they are not going to be as stark white as white linens, esp with low lighting

HMMMM..... is your florist going to do a sample for you? Can they decorate the table with a ivory table cloth for you?

I voted ' you have too much time on your hands'.

Go will all ivory linens - if you have mostly tall white cps, no one will see the difference between the linens and the flowers.

white tablecloths i think will be too stark. even if you are doing white centerpieces--flower colors are always softer and i think what what they are saying iwth lighting, the ivory/ivory combo would be good!

ETA: There is no such thing as STARK in dim lighting...

I had the same issue with my RH and my BM told me the same thing, I figure she's the expert so I'll listen to her. Plus my mom agreed with her, so it was kinda 2 against 1. I'm not having flowers, but white candles as my CP so I had the same fear. But I trust that it will look good, so I'm not really worried.

I voted white but now I change my mind to ivory after reading some of the other posts. I had never thought about this before.

I voted for white, but now that I think about it, I think Ivory would probably look better. A friend of mine did calla lillies in her CPs and she had ivory organza overlays on her tables. They looked gorgeous, and very warm and rich. I think the white would be a little harsh

I agree. Most white flowers are not a true white. I would go with the ivory.

I agree. Most white flowers are not a true white. I would go with the ivory.

I agree with Mel and I actually chose ivory because my dress was ivory and I wanted everything to match.

well if you dress is ivory I would say everything ivory
BUt if your dress is white I would go with White table cloth and ivory napkins

How about the ivory table cloth, choose a napkin color that goes with your wedding colors and those white flowers won't look so bad. We're doing ivory with a red napkin the same color as the BM dresses and we haven't figured out the flower thing yet.
