the biological clock

I'm sure some people may already have children but still reply!

When do you and FH plan on having children?

Re: the biological clock

I'm 22 and he is 27. When we get married I'll be 24 and FH will by 29. I am not worried about my clock obviously but prob in the first year or 2 depending on my job status (teacher, need tenure first!!)

I come from an old school Italian famliy, we have babies younger that most seem to today. LOL

Re: the biological clock

i'll go!

I'm really conflicted because I really love and want children soon, but my life style and goals don't include babies for at least the next 4-5 years.

I'll be working on my Masters starting this August. By the time of the wedding, I will probably have one more semester to go and then I would like to work in my field for a little while before having a baby.

Plus, FH and I are not planning to live together until a few months before the wedding and I really want to have some alone time together before kids come into the picture.

FH is ready for a baby as in yesterday but he understands my reasons for waiting and has things on his to-do list as well. I guess it's just a matter of letting whatever is meant to be..be!

btw, i'm 23yrs old

Re: the biological clock

Exactly...whats supposed to happen will. Its easier for me not to worry to much about working after a baby because I know my mom and FMIL will be a huge help babysitting and FH is in the hair business (aka barber... for now, lol) so he has off Mondays. Only would need help the other 4 days. His schedule is VERY flexable too. Which is nice.

I still have to do my masters too and will prob start in Aug as well. Hoping it won't take too long to do.

Re: the biological clock

we'll probably start about two years into being married, but in all honesty, i know there are quite a few people who would rather we had one now, lol

I'm only 23, by the time we get married, I will be 25. So I think I am waiting AT LEAST 3-4 years. Around 30ish

i'm in no rush, when we get married i will be 29 and he will be 36, so i think it scares him being older and having kids. But if it happens it happens, we are not the type that must have kids, so if we don't we would still be happy

Wow, I'm in the minority here... I'll be 35 when we get married... so, um, we'll be trying right away. FH will be 28 (almost 29) and ideally I'd like to have two children before I'm 40.

I'm only 19 and fh is 21. By the wedding, I will be 21 and he will be 23. We want to have children probably 1-2 years after getting married. Yeah, we know its young, but I want probably 3-4 kids and have to start young if I want to get that many in haha.

Re: the biological clock

FH has a 5 year old son from a previous marriage. He has joint custody and we have him 50% of the time. We have the best of both worlds.....we have the family life one day then the kid free life the next. Our future plans do not include any children together. We are happy with our situation and look forward to lots of travel and a move out of NY when his son graduates high school.

My family is NOT happy about this. They want us to have children. My family feels I am being selfish. Before I met FH I knew I enjoyed being an aunt way more than I would ever enjoy being a mother, and he knew he did not want more children. I am happy in the step-mother role and treat him as my own with all the love that I have. Sure once in a while I get a little twinge when I see a baby and think, 'Why not?' When that happens I pick up my niece and my step son and after a few hours of the madness I snap out of it

FH will be 24 and I will be 22 when we get married. My creed that I live by is Marriage then Mortgage then Maternity. We hope to save up at least the 20% down payment within 2-3 years of our marriage and then enjoy our home sans kids for a year or two. That's puts us at the at around 4-5 years so that I am about 26 or 27.

I'll be 30 and FH will be 28 when we get married. I already have my 9 year old that we're raising, so we're not in too much of a rush to have kids immediately after we're married. We plan to buy a house within the first year and hopefully have 2 children of our own by time I'm 35.
