The Bridal Building and RK Bridal

This weekend I am going to both with my mom, sister, FMIL and FSIL... im excited... but i was just wondering how these places work... last night i went to Davids Bridal and found out you have to just look threw all those dresses yourself! i asked a woman if she could find a specific dress from the catalog and she said i have to find it myself! Is this how the Bridal Building and RK Bridal work? I had a really good experience at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa and i'm hoping it's more like that... ???

TIA!

When I went to RK Bridal, I told the woman what I was thinking and she brought me back a few dresses that matched my description/price range.

They do have racks of dresses but, I found it difficult to search through them since they are all in plastic.

Just an FYI though, the place is a zoo on the weekends, you might get better service if you go on a weekday.

I brought a pic of a style of dress that I like to RK and the woman brought back a bunch of dresses in that vein.
In that group was the dress I feel IN LOVE WITH and purchased. I never would have picked it off of the rack for myself.
We also got the BM dresses at RK. I've had no probs.~ They are already in and I have my dress.
HAPPY SHOPPING!!

I went to RK Bridal (way back when in '03) and I had to go through the racks (along with my sisters) and pick them out ourself and then wait for a changing room.

It was Ok, but I agree with ali120206.

My sister wants to go here in a few months we're probably going to go on a weekday.

I think it's best to go to those places AFTER you have a clear idea of what kind of dress you want. It's a madhouse in there. The service isn't great...totally no frills.

I went to Rk with a friend when she was trying to pick out a dress for her wedding. She met with Olga who would't let her go through the racks herself because it would be impossible to pick out dresses because of the plastic. My friend had no clue as to what she wanted and Olga brought back dresses that she thought would look best on my friend. Every dress looked great on her so she just chose the one she liked best. Both of us and Olga agreed on one and it was the least expensive one.
I have also been in the bridal building and its packed on the weekends. I went to Best Bridal on the 12th floor. Their selection isn't very large but they have the best prices I've seen. I got my bridesmaids dresses their $100 cheaper than RK or the internet. Even though its so busy, their sales person is really great and she tries to make every bride happy.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I went to RK on a Sunday and I looked through the dresses with the help of my mom, grandmother, MOH and a BM. I had a pictures of 2 I really wanted to try on- they didn't have either of them. They told me to call next time in advance and they could find me the dress. They were really friendly though. Good luck!

I definately had a great experience at RKBridal. I dealt with Emily. I took copies of dresses I wanted to try on. she got them for me plus others she thought would look good on me.
Definately got here on a weekday. You need to sign in before 6pm in order to try dresses on.

Best of luck.

I got my dress from RK. Although you had to pick dresses from all the racks, the individualized attention you get from the attendants is unique! I had Nicole and although I was supposed to pick 5 dresses, I ended up with 9 From those nine, my friend and other women helped me decide. Nicole was just excellent, she provided me with the matching tiaras and veils....It made the dress selection much easier. In comparison to my visits to David's Bridal and other small bridal boutiques, where I too was treated very well, I do not regret going to RK. I believe RK had a much larger selection and is more unique than David's. I wasn't impressed by the bridal gowns at David's!

Not too sure if this is a stupid question or not..but do they let you take cameras into RK Bridal? Do you have to sign in if you're going on Sunday?

Go as early as you can enter 9:30 am on Saturday, but I didn't have a problem w/ the camera. I asked the girl if I could get a pic, she said it was fine! I went last weekend at 9:30am and the place was CROWDED!!!!! It was a zoo! and You MUST sign the minute you enter at where the fitting rooms are, then you'll select your dresses. Good luck!

Re: The Bridal Building and RK Bridal

I went to RK Bridal on the Wednesday of Christmas week, so I don't know how busy that was--I was off from work, but a lot of people work that week. I waited about 45 minutes to an hour to get a dressing room. Janice helped me--i went in with a list of dresses that I wanted to see. They didn't have quite a few of them, even though I called about the one I wanted most--I think maybe they misunderstood, I called to ask if they had it in stock to be tried on, and they could order it but didn't have a sample. Whatever, I didn't end up buying that dress anyway! I looked through the racks, and, yeah, it is hard to see what's there through the plastic, but I was able to tell which dresses had cheap beading, which dresses were flat out too expensive for me, etc. The ones I liked I put on the hold rack and tied with a ribbon--although someone STOLE one of my 'hold' dresses! I was mad, as it was one of the ones I really wanted to try on. Anyway, when Janice was helping me it was great, she helped me into the gowns, some of which are a lot harder than it looks, especially when they're too small! She was kind, found me some other suggestions, found my stolen 'hold' gown, and was very professional I don't recommend going there on a Saturday, but if it's your only chance to go, don't miss RK Bridal!
