I haven't had problems so far, althought the Best Man and 1 Brides maid might be going away to school when my wedding is, which might mean missing some of the earlier events

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
YES!!!!!!!!!
I can't say my BM's have given me headaches or stress but they are good for nothing. At my shower it was like pulling teeth asking them to help me with my gifts. My 'good' friends for over 20 years are a BIG dissapointment. All they have done was buy their dresses. They are USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of them was even late for my shower. 2 hours late !!!
If it wasn't for my Mom and MOH and a few other 'true and genuine' friends, I'd be doing this all alone.

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
The only one in my bridal party who's been a real pain in the a** is my FSIL. I had wanted my brother to be a groomsman, so I had asked my FSIL to be in the wedding, although it was against the advice of my FH. The first thing she did after I picked out the bridesmaid dresses is say she refused to be in the wedding because I picked a sleeveless dress and she won't wear anything without sleeves. That caused a huge family arguement, but has since been resolved. Since then, she has refused to take part in anything involving the other bridesmaids. She even refused to pitch in for the gift from the bridal party because she said she'd already purchased a gift. I almost don't want to invite her to my bachelorette party, although I know I have to. She won't go anyway, so I don't see the point, but she's still a pain in the a**. If she wasn't going to be family, I wouldn't speak to her ever again, but since she is, I have to just live with it. I have to say that everyone else, including the out of town bridesmaids have been great, but I really don't know what this girl's problem is.

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
My COUSIN who is a BM was complaining that the favors she was in charge of were too expensive. We gave shower gels, ARE U KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!! What, was it like 3-4 each. Give me a break. I would have bent over backwords for these girls but now it's not even dissapointing but SAD!!!!!!!!

Just one out of my 4 has been a problem. She complained about the dress OF COURSE. But the thing that threw me is when she complained that staying in the hotel that we blocked (she's from out of town) would 'break her'. It's the Huntington Hilton and the rate is $119. I told her that she was certainly welcome to look for a cheaper place. She was the one BM that I really wasn't sure about asking either. I should have listened to that little voice in my head that said: 'Don't ask her!'

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
*sympathy* I just WISH I had your problems.
My best friend (MOH) who is usually very ditzy and a huge procrastinator, for once in her life is actually involved. Too bad she in another time zone. I really wish she were here to share this with.
My little sister (Jr BM) is in yet another state. My stepmonster wench of a woman won't allow us to really communicate too much so no help there.
My future sis in law (BM) is really kinda opposite me. But she's nice just always partying.
I expect nothing. No bridal shower, no bachlorette party. Nothing. It doesn't seem to be meant to be.
Good news is. If something happens, it will be an unexpected surprise. If not, oh well.
I've always been the one to make friends fast but be alright by myself.
I told my dad (actually kinda yelled at him) I don't care who does or doesn't show up or help or if we're married in a sewer. I only need Dad, Jim, Priest and me. THe rest are only there for the food!

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
This is exactly the reason why i am not having a bridal party (just my sister as MOH) i have witnessed so many weddings where the bm's were not into helping at all. in fact, i'm embarrassed to say that i am one of those bridemaids! it's horrible to admit-but until i got engaged and started planning, i didn't realize there's a lot to do and be excited about. i always saw being a bridesmaid as a chore and another opportunity to buy another ugly dress :( i'm sorry i ever felt that way b/c now i understand what it's all about sorry your bm's are not helping out-they probably just don't get it

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
I just heard through the grapevine of my family that one of my out of state bridesmaids (cousin)does not plan on being in the wedding. She can't afford it. Don't you think it would have been nice for her to call me and tell me this? Now I have to call her today and find out what is going on. I am double mad because I just went last week and bought the bridesmaids gifts. That is $60 I could have saved.

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
I knew before picking my bridal party who would help and who wouldn't, but I picked them anyway, beacause they've been in my life and shared good and bad times together. With that said, I picked my mother to be my MOH. She is the one person, I knew I could count on and would endup paying for and taking reponsibility for everything, next to my cousin. And guess what??? I was right!! So, I stepped in from the very begining and help my mom with almos everything, selecting the favors, the centerpieces, the way I wanted the tables set-up, what colors I wanted, I evern bought the bridal games, and some of the raffel give aways, etc!!! I even found out the date.
And Guess what???. It turned out as beautiful, elegant and detailed as I would have wanted it!!! It was great!! It was not a surprise, except for the location, but my mom, cousin and I enjoyed it so much!!
Conclusion: As the saying goes, 'If you want something done right, do it yourself, and you won't be dissapointed'. I was not mad, dissapointed or upset with the others that did not help because I never expected them to in the first place!!!
If you don't go in expecting anything, you won't be dissapointed

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
My Matron cousin - who has unsolicited advice for pretty much everything I've done re: wedding - she don't like the BP dresses, colors, favors, nada. But lately she's been pretty quiet so either this is a lull or she's about to say/do something really STOOPID!!
The biggest thorn - FSIL - who 'asked us' to be in the wedding. To date, she's constantly lied about ordering her dress (she lives in another state). & when (if this is even true) she finally did order, she (a) ordered 2 dresses because she's not sure of her size; (b) orders the WRONG COLOR because 'I looked on the website & the picture looked like burgandy' OH-KAY; (c) she never got measured like I constantly asked her to because she's sure she wears a 14, so 'a 16 will fit.' She don't look like a 14 OR a 16 to me!!! And this comes AFTER I told her several times that MOH wears a 14 too & had to order a size 18 cuz Watters dresses run small.
My new wish? that the dress don't fit when she gets it cuz then she's OUT & I don't have to deal with her anymore!!!

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
when it comes to the wedding plans, my BP is okay, but the shower, don't get me started!!!!! there was sooo much drama attached to my shower i don't know where to start. everyone acted like it was such a CHORE to plan and be at my shower. HELLOO!!! 4 of my girls are married and i went to all theirs and participated and didn't complain about the $$. my FSIL complained to FI that the other girls 'excluded' her. this from a girl who sat on her mother's lap the ENTIRE shower to the point that the waitress asked her if she wanted her meal moved to her mom's table. not to mention that FSIL and FMIL (who i adore) left the shower during a game to go to the restaurant's bar to have a drink. are you freakin' kidding me?? and then complain that you are excluded????
acck!!! a big part of me can't wait for this wedding to be over!!!

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
lets see, One of the Bm who I was in her wedding and living on a student loan while in grad school, made us get custom made dresses for 250.00, get our hair and make up done professionally, get her a bridal shower group gift, pay for her shower, and mind you I gave her a 500.00 bond for the wedding gift. Well, well, well, she is complaining she does not have enough $$ for my shower so I have been told thru the grape vine, another one of my BM has been too busy to call my sister who is the MOH to make plans for my shower, my sister went ahead without her, and another BM totally changed her mind at the last minute not to be in the wedding, so it was not a big deal that we were one less, but it would have been nice to be told this 16 months ago, so if I wanted to ask FSIL I could have. There I am done venting now!!!!

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
I don't have an official bridal party yet, and my wedding is 7 months away. I asked an old friend of mine when I first got engaged and now I'm regretting it. I haven't heard a peep from her in months, and she is in the middle of declaring bankruptcy. I'm thinking she needs out, but feels bad asking.....
FH's sisters (who I really DON'T want) started annoying me asap. I had pictures of dresses in my knot profile and they somehow found it and emailed me, 'you need to take into consideration the different body shapes of your BM's'. Keep in mind I hadn't asked them and they are also very very heavy. I am not close to them and they are much older than me. I wanted to just have some close friends and that's it. Now I feel pressured to have them. They were making comments to FH last week that they are insulted and are obviously 'not invited to the wedding'. I wish!!!!! UGH! I SOOO don't want them in it!!!

Re: The Bridal Party venting thread...
All I have to say is none of my bridesamids drive - and I have 6. My MOH and best woman do drive and you would think they'd offer to take them for their fittings, right - wrong. I am going for my first fitting tomorrow along with 4 of the bridesmaids - my FH is driving two of them to meet us there (he had to take a day off from work to do this). Oh, and we have to take them to get their shoes also.....UGH!!!
