The bride singing at her own wedding- ever been to one?

The bride singing at her own wedding- ever been to one?

And don't say you saw Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey sing to each other at THEIR wedding!

Seriously, I don't know what to do. I'm getting a bit of pressure to sing. i sing at everyone else's weddings so I was hoping I wouldn't have to sing at mine! FH won't pressure me of course, but I hear it constantly from family.

Have you been to weddings where this has happened? At the ceremony? Reception?

I'm not sure I can do it at the church- I think I'd be a wreck. Especially if I sang 'One Hand One Heart'

At the reception, we have a DJ...kinda lame to sing with a karaoke recording, no? And what the heck would I sing??

So I really just wanted to know if anyone's been to a wedding where the bride/groom sang. Thanks!

awwww honestly I think this would be such a great idea...It is so personal and very touching and all your guests would enjoy it...If i went to a wedding and this was done i think i would get so emotional...Its one thing to hear a love song and the couple dancing to it and all but to hear the bride sing the words herself and express those emotions herself through a song is amazing.

I wish i knew how to sing, if i did then i would definitely do it.

It also adds that personal touch at your wedding, love this idea.

Good luck!!!

My mom really wants me to sing at my reception. FH would like it as well, but wants me to do whatever makes me comfortable. I've gone back and forth about it b/c I don't know if I want to be stressing and feeling nervous about having to sing in front of all those people on top of the normal emotions of the day.

I was a music/voice major in college and performed a lot, but I haven't in years and it kind of scares me! But at the same time I would love to actually go through with it and do a great job! I've thought of singing 'Come Rain or Come Shine' because it's good for my range and it would totally fit in with the style band I'm having.

I just don't know...

**** FH's mom sang at her reception and from what I've been told there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Apparently people loved it, but she also was a professional singer, so it was tolerable. Some people.... ugh just watch American Idol!

There was a 2006 bride that sang at her wedding... I wasn't there... but the pics looked amazing. The bride was 'gothbride'.

I don't know if I could handle it at the ceremony - I was just listening to the CD the church provides and when I hear certain songs, I get choked up!

So if i DO do this (and I'm not saying I will YET)...it'll have to be at the reception. But...with a karaoke CD? And what song?!?! uggghhhh!!!

I think FFIL will be more likely to get up in front of everyone in his Elvis jumpsuit and sing a few tunes!

I don't think I could sing at my wedding for two reasons. One being I can't sing and two- I wouldn't want to feel stress or pressured to sing. It's suppose to be a fun and happy day for me and I would just get way to nervous to sing.

I saw that review and that looked SO COOL! I don't have a band though - guess I could ask the band I jammed with years ago but we sang heavy metal!

Hmmm part of me thinks it would be fun to sing 'Sweet Child O' Mine' - the Sheryl Crow version. I did that in karaoke once and it was too much fun!! But I know my family- they want something emotional out of me. UGGGH I'm only comfortable doing that if I am a character in a musical- not being myself in front of everyone I know!

Here is another suggestion. Why don't you record a song before so you wouldn't feel the pressure of singing in front of everyone, plus it is going to be an emotional day for you.

My cousin secretly recorded (professionally) herself singing her wedding song and surprised her DH at the reception. So they danced to her singing, but she didn't actually get up in front of everyone and sing. It was really nice. I know I wouldn't have been able to hold myself together if I tried to sing at my wedding.

Ooooh that's pretty cool! I can't see myself singing 'Thank You for Loving Me' though. Hmmmm....it's giving me ideas though- thanks!

Re: The bride singing at her own wedding- ever been to one?

my friend wrote & sang her wedding song......that was back in '02- so as I'm thinking about it, I don't think she sang live, their favor was a CD with like 6 or 7 songs and she sang them all!!! So I believe the DJ just played it off of the CD instead of her having to sing it live.

I would say if you're not comfortable with singing a sappy song (like your family wants) then maybe you shouldn't do it. But I definitely think it adds a personal memorable touch.

My Dad will be singing at mine. He is singing his and my mom's wedding song 'Something in the Way She Moves' by the Beatles.

But to answer your question, yes my cousin sang and played the keyboard at her wedding. She serenaded her DH. It was really sweet.

yeah i would definitely do it at the reception not the ceremony. Hmmm ask the dj about how you should do it, i am sure he can help...Well theres alot of great love songs but your best bet is singing a song that is special to you and your FH.

I hope you do it and i am sure you will do an amazing job, i mean if you weren't good all those other people wouldn't have asked you to sing at their wedding

Also if you do it, i wouldn't tell Fh, i would surprise him with that...I think it would be such a beautiful surprise

I sang at my aunts wedding in memory of my grandpa and I will be signing at my wedding to FH and then going into a choreographed dance with my bridesmaids (my fellow dance teachers)

I have a similar problem. Me, my MOH and her sister, my BM uesd to sing together in church. My BM has an amazing voice and has met with a few lbals but has to go to college first. My parents have said they woud love for the 3 of us to sing a praise song we wrote together but i think i'll be too emotional. My BM will be singing at the ceremon but i don't know if i can handle it! FH loves the idea as well.
