I'm not sure if something like this has already been posted but I just came across this list in one of my parenting magazines and I thought it was very helpful so I thought I'd share.
The Complete Medicine Chest --To avoid a frantic trip to the all-night drugstore, stock your medicine cabinet with these baby care essentials. Then relax; you’ll be ready when the sniffles or scrapes or splinters strike.
*infant acetaminophen and infant ibuprofen drops *activated charcoal - for poisoning (always call a poison control center before administering) *antibiotic ointment *baby nail clippers *bandage tape *cotton balls *cotton swabs *digital thermometer (Mercury thermometers are not safe. If you have one, call your local sanitation or health department to find out how to dispose of it.) *hydrocortisone cream (Always check with your pediatrician before using this or any medicated preparations) *nasal aspirator *medicine spoon or dropper *oral rehydrating solution – for bouts of diarrhea and/or vomiting *petroleum jelly *rubbing alcohol *saline nose drops *infant simethicone drops – for gas *self-adhesive bandages *sterile gauze pads *syrup of ipecac – to induce vomiting (Always call a poison control center before administering) *topical teething gel *tweezers

Re: The Complete Medicine Chest
I have every item on that list except the activated charcoal?? DH tells me I'm neurotic. Hmmm, perhaps just a tad!!
Ya never know when you'll need these things!! We almost had to use the tummy drops on Sean the other night... poor baby.

Re: The Complete Medicine Chest
I think it is soooo important to have each of these items in your home. i think it makes a great baby shower gift also.
I was going to say exactly what Michele said...I gave a first aid baby kit to a friend of mine and she told me she was so thankful one night when he had gas and the medicine was all ready in the kit for her!!!
