I am going to buy my wedding dress tonight and as I am calculating my budget, I have no idea what alterations will cost?? I am hoping no more than $200. For those that have done them, can you help me with a ball park range? TIA!!

It depends on the store and how much needs to be done. At Lillette's, there's a cap of $295. But at Bridal Reflections, they told me the cap was $495.

mine is capped at 600
so far they quoted me a lil under 400.
wellllll deserved though.. I HOPE. i mean.. the shyt they have to do.. if they dont mess up.. its DEF worth it in my case

Is it better to buy a dress that fits almost perfectly in the store (and have less alterations?) or buy it a size up just in case and do alterations?

i think my store was capping me at $150 (i'm not sure if that includes a bustle or not) ... but since i won't be using them because they're a-holes, it'll prob cost more.

Look at your wedding dress it has no bustle therefore they have to sew on beads or hooks to bustle the dress. And they like to charge an arm and a leg for it.

in order the create a bustle so that your dress doesnt drag it costs money, there are all different type of bustles, some mor eintricate than others where theres could be multiple points of them hem than need to be pulled up. in any case they need to create the points and loops and everything so that your dress can be bustled after the ceremony
