Did anyone see this? This was the front page of the Daily Mirror, one of England's newspapers, the day after the election. Even though I voted for Kerry, I found this to be somewhat offensive.

usuk, maybe you can tell us how this newspaper is viewed in england? I don't know if it's more a tabloid or what. Thanks!

My DH is English and his parents called the day before the election and were openly expressing their disgust and disdain of George W. Bush. They called him a warlord and warmonger. DH's extended family feels the same way.

It is very true how much our 'quality' of news differs from the rest of the world.

Our news comes to us very watered down.

If you want a different type of news, try BBC News, usually on channel 21 WLIW...or listen to NPR News, 93.9 FM. I find that I get a better quality/quantity of news from those sources that any of the big news channels.

A lot of Europe really doens't like the US, and to paraphrase a NYT editorial from today , see us a 'a bunch of gun toting religious freaks'

as the world's superpower for the past sixty years or so, the U.S. has always been 'looked down upon' by other nations. its tough to be the most powerful nation and have everyone love you. thats just it- the U.S. does things that other nations can't, or won't, do. the U.S. has always been a big bully around the world- some nations depend on that for their security, others hate it. certainly these negative (hostile??) feelings towards our country have increased due to Bush's war in Iraq but they are not new.

I am 100% in agreement in how you said this. They are not new and are getting more publicity because of Bush putting the spotlight on himself from 2000 election and how he went into this war but the flip side is if people can handle us not being the super power and someone else taking on that role? Its scary for me because its not just my life anymore..its also my daughter's..

In the past few years it has become increasingly obvious that more and more of the world does not like America. I don't see how that can be good. Superpower or not...throughout history major empires have fallen, I don't think it was wise to piss off a lot of the world with the Iraqi invasion.

The resort where we stayed for our honeymoon was full of people from the UK. We had several discussions about how horrible the choice to go to war has been. I hate to say it, but one couple started talking down to us because we were American and I just laughed and said 'That's okay your Prime Minister is our President's *****.'

You may not agree with our president but none the less he is still ours and if anyone is going to bash him it should be us

I think its funny, and no matter who I voted for, it should open peoples eyes to what others ( tabloid or not) think about our president.

I AGREE! Doesnt anyone think it's weird that NO-ONE wants to help us with the WAR? NO-ONE else feels its neccesary but us?

I dont neccesarily feel safe from ANYONE living in the US theses days.
