So for a while now my mom came up with the idea of having a meet and greet in the hotel conference room the day before the wedding, as we are not having a rehearsal until the day of. We planned on having all the OOT baskets there for all the guests could pick them up and we were gonna have like a buffet style party with food we were gonna buy from costco. We also planned on showing home videos of us in the room as we have one of those pull down screens. The room is free with the blocks so it is def an inexpensive option to an RD. What type of food should we have if we do this all cold or some hot?
The other option would be having it at a restaurant, whih I have been thinking about lately

Re: The day before the wedding???????????????????
we are doing EXACTLY this the day before the wedding as well. We rented the hotel meeting room and my mom decided on doing cold food...got too complicated for us with burners and everything...so we are having a very casual meet and greet...gonna set up some decorations, give out BP gifts and OOT bags and parent gifts.
We are ordering in different types of panninis and salads and we'll have fruit and cookies for desert (i might get a Groom's cake and surprise FH). I think the MOH may toast sparkling cider since we can't have alcohol unless we buy it from the hotel but the hotel has a cash bar that the guests can buy from if they want. We bringing in our own coffee and sodas.
I think you can really order any type of food-most caterers come and set up hot food trays with burners or you can do heros or paninnis like we are. I think the casual meet and greet/RD at the hotel is a great idea...get ot relax and spend some quality time with our guests that came from far since the next day we are going to be sooo busy.

which hotel are you using? we have to pay to use our meeting room but they are giving us linens, setting up tables and supply all the plates, utensils etc.

The style of food really depends on the time of day. If it is going to be around lunch or dinner time I would cater a meal if not I would have appetizers. For lunch you could have wraps, sandwiches and salads and for dinner I would have a few hot items (a pasta, a meat dish, veggies and a starch) and a salad.

That sounds great!
Maybe price out some italian food places that have catering. If it is not a lot of people, it could be pretty inexpensive.

Ladies, check with your hotels that they will allow you to bring food in and if they are that they aren't going to charge you a fee to do so.
MOST hotels will not allow outside food in a Conference Room.

Re: The day before the wedding???????????????????
I LOVE this idea- I htink if you got some sandwhich trays from Whole Foods or Stop and Shop (they have little wraps, sandwiches, etc), a fruit thing, some veggies, and maybe a hot pasta dish that would be great!
If it is in the afternoon, I'd rather have a sandwhich
