F that, if you're supporting him at home while he is out making the money from the business I would not feel comfortable signing that.

No way in a million years would I sign a prenup.
I don't believe in divorce unless I'm getting physically/emotionally abused or there's a long term affair on his part...and if any of those happen then not only does he deserve to get divorced from me but he deserves to PAY too

Re: The Dreaded P word!
... not sure how I feel about the P word either but one thing is for sure 'the partners' should have nothing to do with your marriage i.e 'they want the wives to sign a form'... ummm last time I checked you werent getting into bed with them or cooking them any meals - so unless its a direct personal request from your FH (based on personal matters/feeling regarding the subject not a business matter) I dont think any sort of business or firm should have the right to be requesting this sort of commitment from you. If they expect you to sign such a form you should be able to set your own stipulations ensuring your marriages welfare so long as they give a $2000 contibution(s) (each) to the Mr. & Mrs.Lovey Dovey wedding fund then sure you'd be more than happy to sign haha i'm sure they'd back right out of that one! If they want to get legal on your arse i'm sure you could give it right back hahaha! Unless they are willing to fund a part of your wedding or your household (which they arent!) they should keep their noses out of your marital affairs & regardless of any such thing - Your marriage is none of their Business! I wouldn't sign... Keep us posted & best of luck with that matter.

that doesn't really make sense to me ... if, G-d forbid, you do get divorced, you can't go after your husbands' business' money ... just your hubby's money. why would they care?
i'm not sure what either of you has in terms of finances, but a prenup is not all bad. it protects you both! i was actually considering one because i have more assets than FH does ...

They care because she could become a part-owner in the business, I'm assuming, since it will be a major asset (his partnership interest can be given a great deal of value). They don't want any domestic messiness affecting their business venture. And yeah it will protect her IF she has money to protect, but if she's going in with nothing then it won't really protect her if she's just getting cut out of all the assets.
I think it's not right because you're already with FH, while he's forming this business, you'll be supporting him from the get-go, and you shouldn't cut yourself out of it because some other guys (not your FH) think that's what you should do. If you have a problem with it, it's a matter for you and FH to discuss only. Don't let anyone bully you into signing one, and if you do decide to sign one, get your own lawyer to help you draw it up so you don't get screwed.

No, prenup. Actually, FH has a house but he wants to put me on it ASAP. I think this shows confidence in our marriage

Re: The Dreaded P word!
what i dont like about a prenup is that its talking about divorce before you're even married. the P-word reminds me of the D-word and they both TOTALLY ****. Thank god FH and I are both broke lol

I used to be really jaded and commitmentphobic so I always said I'd do a prenup (like i had any money to protect lol) but FH is the one against it! He thinks it makes marriage a business deal instead of a romantic commitment. I'm starting to agree with this. I think if the assets are vastly unequal, a prenup is in order IMO.

i agree... if you want to marry someone, you have to be sure this is it and go all in... when ppl mention a prenup, it makes it seem like you're destined for failure... and it also makes it seem more like a business proposal..than an actual whole hearted commitment...
i really dont think the partners should have a say in what you guys do personally... it's really none of their business... and i honestly feel like by them asking that of you is insulting.. and i'm not even sure if it's even legal!

Re: The Dreaded P word!
WOW, I think I am the only person who thinks it is ok to sign a P. I have a house, etc. and I want my FH to sign one. I am sorry, in todays world, you could never be too certain and it is always best to protect yourself first and your loved ones second. Our agreement is he will go on the deed of my house when we have kids. We have been together for 10 years but you just never know.
Call me selfish or maybe I have seen too many women/men get the loose end.

I wouldn't sign it but that is just me. Talk it over with him and see if he really wants you to sign it or if it is just a suggestion made by his partners. I wouldn't be hurt that it came up either, just make sure that your personal views are known.

I would have no problem signing a prenup. I don't think that it has anything to do with the success of a relationship.
