The Dream Thread - share and discuss

In answer to your question, yes I do take over my dreams from time to time. Mostly fighting.

I've loved medieval type things since I could crawl. Dad got really into the whole asian thing and brother learned sword and throwing technics. Me, none. I was a girl and frankly too busy trying to figured out who to take apart the car.

Instead in my dreams I battle. The staff is usually my weapon of choice but in some dreams yes I take over with a sword. Taking over my dreams was one of the things I learned early in childhood.

As Yaboo says.. dreams often reflection real life emotions or actions. Memories, feelings or events. I had a very harsh childhood. My real mother can frankly be slowly baked over a fire and still never satisfy my need for justice. The many things she put me through were reflected in my dreams. My brother would call over to me via our intercom system to try to wake me up (my mother used to lock me in my room). During the day we’d discuss my dreams. He helped me imagine defenses and actions to fight off evil. I don’t know if I would have survived my childhood without him. On many levels he was my savior.

I wrote out one particularly strange dream for a class (speech) assignment I recently had. Let me see if I can find it.

Re: The Dream Thread - share and discuss

Oh and those are the grandparents I knew and loved.

I am RENOWNED for my long memory and my ever lasting grudges against things I find morally wrong. You can pretty much do whatever you want to me and I forgive, to an extend. My Mother will never have my forgiveness and her mother barely got my acceptance. You could say in my family I am the Matriarch of Family disputes. I keep the records mentally of who did what to who and who needs to make amends. I call the shots from 1700 miles away. I settle the scores. I write the books.

When my mother’s father died I was not born. My father says he wanted my brother raised by a better man that my father was. My father made it clear he was not to come near my brother again. Later the man was jumped and stabbed to death over his cookie company. I was born later. I felt weird toward my Nana but didn’t know why. Later I found out.

After the divorce, my mother lied. She said my father beat her. MUCH later she admitted it was a lie. At the time I was around 8 going on 9. When I came home one day to cry to my grandma that boys in school were tormenting me for my different colored eyes. I didn’t know my mother’s evil words. My father, brother and I were living in a roach invested hell hole while my mother decided our lives. My grandmother played innocent and paid 3 boys $10 each to find me, chase me and beat me with 2X4s while screaming at me that I was a four eyed freak from hell. I ran home bleeding with them chasing me. I got to her door and cried for her to help. She came to the screen looked down on me and said “Pay your own debts child and that of your fathers” and closed the door. Those boys beat me nearly senseless until I faught back.

Years later, she called me crying hysterically crying. She loves me and she was wrong to do what she did. My mother was a lying evil woman. She felt so bad she had treated her grandchild that way. I told her life was too short to recall bad things. I said she had my blessing. My mother begged that woman’s grace before she died. My grandmother was recording saying “Hilda, .. Oscar & Veronica “ My mother was furious that she left out my half sister. The old woman said “You shall have no peace till you make amends with them”. She died less than a week later. Weird video tape.

When she died, my father called down the hall to me. “Your grandmother has died” I said I knew that.. she had been dead nearly a year. He said no, the other one. I said “I have only one”. Two years later I got a hold of that tape. I wish that old woman no misery only peace. But she is not my grandmother.

PS: My mother's side are the Spainards. They take this stuff seriously.

WOW Veronica, that is quite a childhood
You must be a very strong woman.
As I read about the boys beating you up and the fact that your mother's mom paid them, I had tears in my eyes
I am surprised you can let the past be the past.

WOW !!!!!!!!!

When we were young, my brother and I had to live with our aunt for a while, and were treated like the slaves.
She made us eat on the floor with our hands while her son proudly was eating on the table. We ate with the dogs.
She took all the money that my parents sent to her and spent it on her son.

She dressed us up and took pictures to send to my mom, then took them off and put us in rags.
I despise her for that to this day.

When my unsuspecting Mom finally find out, she snatched us away fast. But the damage was done.
I didn't remember, but my Mom one day did tell me.
I have resentment for that aunt now. And the funny thing is she's been a great aunt, I guess trying to make up for what she did when we were so young (we were like 2 and 3 years old I think)
So I went from loving her so much to practically hating her.

When she had a stroke, I had a dream the night before, and new something bad was going to happen.
I took all my feelings aside and was at the hospital with her every day.

But I haven't seen her in about 6 months now.

I don't know if it's all the talk on dreams, but last night I tossed and turned all night. I had ridiculous dreams of fighting with DH over who could eat the leftovers from dinner at the restaurant we went to on Sunday

My heart goes out to both of you... I swear I'll never understand how people can live with themselves treating children that way.

My father, what few memories I have of him, used to threaten to leave us on the side of the road if my mom didn't come pick us up (she ALWAYS did, but it meant her having to leave work early to get us and therefore losing money... ). I remember being on some side road off of the Southern State Parkway and my dad using a pay phone to call my mom at work. I really think he would have left us if she couldn't make it. He also used to threaten to kidnap us... he'd tell her that he's take us to a friend of his in Brooklyn to raise us and we'd never see her again.

How can people be so cruel, especially to their own children??? I never had a father, in my opinion. It's a good thing he died when I was 8, who knows what he would have done to my life. That's why I'm so close with my Mom and my Nana... they had more of an influence over me than he did, thank God!

I agree with you, he was not a father.
I don't understand why people will use children as weapons. It's not fair. You as a child should not have even heard their disputes, much less been put on the side of the highway to wait for her to be picked up. And to see that out of desperation, she would have to leave work. IMO that was just plain cruel of him.

You are so much better off
