The dress I want ...................

will be at a bridal salon in VA on Friday!!!!

FI and I are driving down on Thursday night so he can ask my parents to marry me so I decided to call around to see if anyone had a sample of the dress.

No bridal salon in the VA area had it but one store agreed to order it for me. None of the stores in NY would order the dress for me just to try on? They all wanted me to buy it first.

How could I buy a wedding dress w/o ever having tried on a sample? Do brides really do that?

The dress I want is White/Lavender/Silver but the sample that I am trying on will be ivory/lavender/silver. I already told my sister that she is invited to try it on with me but I did not tell my mom yet since FI has not asked her if he can marry me. Don't want to ruin it for him.

This is the dress!!!
'Metallic lace covers the empire bodice accented with a heavy beaded neckline. The pleated overlay on the skirt accents the side opening covered with beaded embellished lace. The plain semi-cathedral train is finished with a lace-up back.'

Yeah, I have LOVED this dress since I first saw it in July.

I finally decided to get off my duff and try to find it this weekend but no place in the city has a sample although it's a 2004 gown. And none were willing to order it for me!?!?

I'm really excited to be able to include my mom and sister in this process. I thought I'd have end up with just my NY bridesmaid helping me out. My best friend (MOH) of 25 years is in Japan until 10/27 so she does not get to see the dress yet. But my sister, who will be in my wedding too, lives in VA. I may include my sister-in-law too since my brother and his family plan to be in VA this weekend to meet FH My brother (who lives in NC now) talks to him over the phone and has seen pics but the never met in person.

I just called. I'm just so impatient these days - can't even wait a few hours for an e-mail response?!?!

She told me she can copy any dress. She also told me $357 for the Bonny dress in the pics directly from Bonny!!!!!! I got a price quote from netbride.com too - $357 for the Bonny dress. The bridal shops I called and visited were at like double that price.

Gownfind alterations are capped at $150 too. That includes the bustle (a simple one I'm sure but it's included).

Amazing.

I wish I had known about this before I ordered the dress for VA delivery. She charges $20 bucks to order via 'borrow a Bonny'. It's $40 but she will put up $20 of that and credit the $20 toward my purchase.

The fee is $50 (plus $20 in shipping) to have the dress sent to VA. I have not yet paid but I'm sure I will be asked for the $70 once I get to the VA salon.

Then again, $70 is not much to make my mom and sister feel included in the dress shopping process.
