Re: The favor debate.....
IMO, favors are so un important. You should not break the bank over them.I used mini champagne favors. It was very in expensive mini bottles for less than $2 per person.
People do not care about favors.

Re: The favor debate.....
Not doin' 'em.....we think it's pointless to spend money on something they are going to throw away or eat in a matter of seconds after they walk out the door. It's the memories that matter! We might opt for printed napkins or matchbooks so that it's a little something....

Re: The favor debate.....
I got frames at Michaels they were 8 in a package for $10, then 40% off. They will hold the place card and they are also the same size as the TY pic. This way I need one per couple and it kills two birds with one stone. I couldn't see spending a ton of money, I only ever got one favor that I kept and liked. Think about what favors you've gotten over time.

Re: The favor debate.....
We're donating to a charity (haven't picked it yet) in lieu of traditional favors. We both think they're a waste - the only ones I have actually used were the frame favors...and even then, not everyone has the same taste.

my cousin gave pepper mills as her favors. My one cousin thought it was fabulous. She needed one. I thought it was a waste of money. My mom's friends daughter did cake servers as her favor. I thought ok that is nice.
The favor we want to give I want it to be something someone can use or say hey wow this is great i cant wait to use this or put it on display.
I have no idea what we are doing as favors

Re: The favor debate.....
I was going to suggest CD's but Jenny2Penny beat me to it. I agree, how many favors that you have no use for can you have around your house? Are you having a theme? My wedding is on Halloween, we're having stained glass pumpkins made so people can hang them in their window as a decoration every year. I got that idea from my MOH who had a holiday wedding and gave Christmas ornaments as favors, I think of her wedding every year when I decorate my tree!

Re: The favor debate.....
We don't really have a theme for our wedding. I was thinking about CD's, but what songs do you put? Anything that was played at your wedding? My other idea was some sort of seeds that could be planted and would come back each year. Other than that, I am all out of ideas!

Re: The favor debate.....
Ok, this is a good time for me to discuss the worst favor I have ever received.A bar of soap that was our placecard.
Like Nvbrd, I did mini champagne bottles, and gave out little boxes of chocolate. Edible, and they go away and don't become annoying clutter for anyone but me, who has the extras I don't know what to do with.

In addition to the almonds in organza bags, we are giving the dolphin bottle openers. We figured it was something they could use again. I also think they're cute

Re: The favor debate.....
I think Favors are nice to give out at weddings. People do look forward to opening a pretty box or pkg.... CDs are cheap to make and they can be personalized you can purchase the stuff you need to make them from Staples. Other nice ideas are mini flower potswith planted herbs or flowers (you can grow them your self then stick a cute ribbon on them), or believe it or not check out the dollar store i have seen so many of the favors i received being sold for just a dollar! Candles and candies are always liked or you can do something related to your theme...ex, Beach theme give away seashell shaped soap (say that 10x's real fast..LOL) in a nice sash (women love these for their lingerie draws or bathroom dishes _ for when guest stop over)...Good Luck

I think giving a faor is nice..since people are giving you a very nice gift in an envelope..it's the least you can do..we are giving out a full size bottle of white zinfandel wine in a pretty bag with almonds wrapped up and tied to it...

Re: The favor debate.....
We actually were'nt going to do favors. Then I was shopping online, Anthropologie.com and I was just looking around the sale home accents. We found little pewter filagrie boxes that are actually a votive. They were originally $24, we got them for $4 each. Whats nice about them is that the don't look cheap, and I'm going to put tealights in the so the will be glowing the whole reception..

Re: The favor debate.....
I don't think we're going to do favors. If we do, it will be cd's. I wouldn't worry about it, honestly, if it is a budget issue I think you can forego the favors.

Re: The favor debate.....
Hey we are giving CD's and I waited until Office Max had them on sale. Then I get a rebate, the final cost.....$0. So look for the bargans. I think for $0 I will have an elegant gift. The only thing I think I will have to buy is more ink for my printer to make the sleves.

Re: The favor debate.....
I got this idea from my friend Amber, for whom I was a bridesmaid in June. We're going to buy plain glass votives, a stencil, and art spray paint. Then there will be a weekend between now and the wedding where I and a few of my bridesmaids are meeting at my mom's house and painting them. This way, we have a beautiful favor at a lower price.
BTW, the design we'll be painting is a G-Clef (it's a musical symbol). Why a G-Clef? Because I'm a musician, and my fiancee's last name is Greenspan.
I just love that idea.
