The full Price is Right Experience!!!
Ok, so we got up the day of the taping at 4:15 am, to be on line before 6 am. When we got to the studio we found out that the first people in line had been standing there since 11:30 the night before!!!!
You make instant friends when you get there and funny enough the two couples behind us, one was from New York and the other from New Jersey. Our T-shirts were a big hit, everyone was calling us 'Mr. and Mrs. El Cheapo'
Alot of time is spent waiting but the crowd is so into it, that the time just flies by. We finally got seated around 2pm for a 2:30 show and Rich Fields (the announcer) comes and pumps the crowd up (even though we really dont need it). lol. We got seated with these people from Long Beach who adopted us as part of their 'group'. So anyway, as part of this warm up, Rich Fields asked the crowd, who was the original announcer of TPIR, which of course Don knew so I encouraged to scream it out, which worked to our advantage since Don was one of the only people who knew the answer. With this the Long Beach people were like 'Hey this guy knows his stuff, if one of us gets up there, well look to the El Cheapo's for help', so we were like 'cool, well help you guys out, weve been watching for 28+ years, blah blah...
As luck would have it, the girl in front of us gets called to COME ON DOWN!! (and we got on camera too!!!
) So she manages to get on stage, to win a prize, she played that game where you have to switch the price if you feel its the wrong price, so me and Don are screaming at her to switch it . Her idiot friends are telling her not to switch it and she listens to them and losses the game. Oh well, we tried to help her.
Bob, talks to the audience during the break, there were alot of groups from various parts of California there that day and that what the majority of the people that were called down. Oh, I should also mention that not one person won a game at our taping. A 92 year old woman won the showcase but that was it. All in all it was a great experience. If anyone is interested in watching we will be on May 2nd.
