I get along with them but we are just not the best of friends. I get along better with my FFIL then my FMIL.

That's pretty much my story.

I love my FIL's....my fh's parents are great...his mother is really sweet and we get along so well....and I LOVE my fsil and fbil as well. I am excited about becoming a part of their family. I have heard many horror stories about future in laws so I really do feel blessed to be entering into such a great family!

FI only has his mom - his father passed away 8 years ago. FMIL is about as cold and disinterested as they come. It's not that I don't get along with her (although we've disagreed on things a couple of times) we just have no relationship. He has 3 sisters and they are a little warmer, but still distant. I've done my best to include them and my parents have made numerous efforts to thaw things out..but nothing. It's a shame she's so disinterested in her son's life - and he's so incredibly hurt by it. But since my parents met his family they've heaped attention on him to compensate, so in that respect we're very lucky.

I asked the question but I never answered it. It's a good relationship but, it does get stressful at times. I really have no relationship w/ FSIL and not for a lack of trying. Honestly think it's a jealousy issue and there isn't anything to be jealous about. I leave her messages to try and involve her and I never hear back then I hear from FMIL that I really need to include FSIL and that she feels out of the loop. It's driving me nuts and I'm starting to get resentful, which I really don't want to do!

I'm like you, my main problem is with my FSIL. She has never done a single bad thing to me, but she's just someone I don't respect and I don't know how to deal with it. Her life choices have put FH's whole family in a difficult situation and it's hard for me to ignore that they way they do! I find myself not wanting to include her in anything because of my feelings, but I know I have to get over that somehow.

My family dynamic is so different--when someone messes up, we all yell at them! In FH's family, everything is kept under the surface. I have to learn to accept that, I guess.

I have never met my FFIL, but I love my FMIL (they are married). They live in ISrael and I think FFIL has a fear of flying, but he is coming here for the wedding. FMIL is a party animal and is a competitive dancer. She is so sweet. I have never been there with her, but she ahs come to NY a few times. She is very sweet and loves her son- but not in an overwheming way. SHe wants to see him happy and I make him happy, so she is so sweet to me. She and my mom get along really well.

i guess im pretty lucky in some aspects because my in laws live in florida and we dont get to see them all that often. my mil seems sort if cold totally unlike my mother and my fil is very friendly and down to earth.
