The gall of some people

The gall of some people

I'm uploading all my wedding pictures to my photo gallery when I notice that one whole table is empty, immediately after cake.

It was a table of cousins; 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 brother who was a no-show (still haven't received a card or explination for that one either).

I then remembered that none of the 6 people at that table said goodbye.

So I went back to other pictures before cake where you can see their table. Empty. Empty. Empty.

These people ate dinner and must have left immediately after and never said goodbye. With a wedding as small as ours (75 adults), it's noticeable. And since there is a timestamp on the photos, I know they left before 3:30pm when the reception ended at 5pm. On a Sunday. Where's the fire?

Not to mention that one of them gave us a scratch-and-dent shower present which had been marked down to $19.00. (hubby found the sticker underneath the box when he was packing the car)

Some people are just freaking rude.

I can't wait until we get an invite to their wedding.

I agree- you should get them a 'scratch off' for thier shower!

It's amazing what some people will do... and probably think that there is nothing wrong or odd about it! Just remember that I am sure your wedding day was AMAZING and their little 'eat and run' display did nothing to change that one bit!!!!

They should be ashamed, unfortunately, I think every family has people like that!

I think you are over reacting..... Maybe they got sick... maybe they had somewhere else to go, but really wanted to be able to be at your wedding too....... Maybe they didn't want to bother you as they were leaving..... I am confused what you are so upset about..... They did come.... They did get you a gift.......... ????

I'm so sorry about that. What a bunch of jerks. Was their wedding gift cheap?

Six people, all brothers and sisters, had somewhere else to go that they ate and ran? They all got sick at the same time? That's a weak explination.

My Aunt who was diagnosed with lung cancer not 4 weeks ago, who went through her first round of chemo not 5 days prior was there and stayed to the end.

In my family (and probably in most), it is bad manners not to say goodbye to the bride and groom.

There is a further history with these people like my husband being invited as 'guest' to their weddings when we had been together longer than they had, getting verbal shower invites because they couldn't be bothered finding out where I lived, never visiting our table at their weddings even though we took the time to at least say goodbye to them, etc. I won't bore you with details, it would take forever.

What it comes down to is, it's low class to eat and run, not say goodbye, and not at the very least reciprocate the generosity that has been shown to you by the bride and groom. If it was one couple, fine. Things happen. But 3 couples? Sorry. I'm calling bull****. If attending my wedding was such a hassle, there was a 'no' option on the invite. If you're going to come, then understand the expectation of even the lowest level of respect and do it.

You better believe it!

I didn't notice any of this until after the fact anyway. I have some cousins that I'm close to, and aunts and uncles that I'm close to also. Every family definitely has these kinds of people.

Funny, the one or two people who I would expect not to show or have issues with surprised me and came through. Sometimes you have smaller expectations and you're pleasantly surprised, so it evens out.

Re: The gall of some people

Yup they gave cards/checks. Two of them were for the same amount; almost the exact dollar amount that the plate cost. It was like they called up the BM to find out how much it cost!

Hey, if this is the worst I can say about the whole day (which actually, it is!) then we were damn lucky. We had the time of our lives, nothing will change that.
