The Great Debate - Vacation Time

Original post by Moonmist09

My Co-worker just asked our boss for her honeymoon time. She let him know that she will be out the 2 weeks following her wedding. She has two weeks off and 5 sick days to use.
He let her know that her vacation time only consists of Monday through Friday for a grand total of only 10 days.

Since when is two weeks vacation only 10 days? two weeks if 14 days. period. what if you worked in an industry where you didn't work Mon - Fri? this wouldn't even be able to apply.

I'm upset for her. Anyone else had some similar happen to them?

So next year when i tell him I am going to be gone for 3½ weeks he'll flip. oh well. this is a once in a life time vacation. if he doesn't want to pay us he doesn't have to. still going

my boss will never give you a definitive answer. he will always skirt around the issue.
for years, i assumed it was 14 days since i had 2 weeks off for the last 6 years. last year i asked for an extra week off a year since i had been here for so long. so now i have 3 weeks off.
last year, i used 14 days off as vacation time. i got paid for ever single day and he never gave me a problem and approved all my time off.

this is not even for me right now although i am wondering for my HM next year. as long as i get the time i don't care, and you have to give it to me kinda because its already booked. if you only want to pay me for the 3 weeks i'll take the 4th without pay.

but i don't undersdtand how you go back and forth one year it 14 days and one year it Mon-Fri

I think he probably made a mistake lucky ulol

my boss is a HUGE MISER and a stickler! he wouldn't just let anyone slide with anything. if you leave an early on a couple of days...he adds up the hours and counts that as half a day off!
