The 'High Ranch'

The 'High Ranch'

Does anyone live in one? We are considering making an offer on a beautiful house BUT the whole thing about there being 2 bedrooms up and 2 bedrooms down, plus no basement, concerns us for resale value.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Re: The 'Hi Ranch'

My parents have a HI Ranch in Hampton Bays.

We have 3 bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs and no basement.

The no basement is a little issue, with all the stuff my mother keeps, there is no room.

Hi Ranch's are nice houses. I don't see a problem in you reselling it, if the money and location is right.

Regarding the no-basement thing .. look at it this way .. most people often finish off their basements .. so they technically have no basements either .. but instead, more living space .. and more living space is what everyone wants these days!

The house does have an attic, right??? Does it have storage space??? Is there excess room in the garage for storage??

Good Luck if you pursue this house!!!

im in real estate and I will tell you the high ranches are in more demand than you think many of them can be listed as mother daughter when the time comes and many have income potential

I have a high ranch that has 8 closets not including bedroom ones. I also have attic space (limited because of the cathedral ceilings but still decent), a two car garage with loft and a crawl space. I miss the idea of going down into a basement but I am fine with storage for now. This type of home is actually nice and practical to live in. My last home was a cape and I felt it was boxy. This home flows very nicely.

Thanks everyone...my DH really really wants a basement, and now everyone is telling us that reselling the house with only 2 bedrooms upstairs will close out a lot of the market (families won't want their kids on a different floor). We aren't ever planning to have a tenant, either, so...not sure what we'll do. The house is absolutely gorgeous, though, so I'm not giving up yet!

I think my parents couldn't wait for the addition to be built on own house so they could get off the same floor we kids were on!!
