Re: The How Tos of South Beach
Phase 1 is the hardest: no milk, oj, fruit, or bread at all. I usually make eggs for the morning, sometimes with canadian bacon. If you're eating at work though, you could make hard-boiled eggs at night and take them with you in the morning. For lunch I go with either a salad, or I make meat and cheese roll-ups in the morning and bring them with me. You can also have nuts and most veggies. Peanut butter is okay too, so you can put PB on celery (but I think only 2 tbsp a day) and bring that with you wrapped in foil. Dinner I usually have chicken and some veggies or a salad. Once you hit phase 2 you can have wheat or whole grain bread, but only one or two servings a day. Also you can have brown rice in phase 2. I know it's hard, but it really worked for me. I lost 30 lbs and have kept it off almost 2 years. But after South Beach, I went on the weight watchers points system and this helped me to maintain my weight. I actually started South Beach again last Mon to jump start the last of my weight loss before the wedding. I cheated yesterday, and gained back a little weight from what I lost this week So you gotta be really good the first two weeks, and then be careful as you add in carbs in phase 2. Good luck!

For lunch today I just had tuna salad (with miracle whip and celery bits, a little bacon bits) on spinach leaves. You can have pistahios, and that's what I'm having right now for dessert I figured I would share. It would be a good dinner or weekend lunch.

I usually have celery with peanut butter for breakfast or the low carb yogurt.... For lunch, when i started, i would have spinich salad, and dinner was veggies, tofu, and fish or chicken... I modified certain things and still lost 45 pounds.... for example, i would still have skim milk, and low carb ice cream....

Woohoo. I am on day 2 and I feel ok so far, LOL. FH is dying and just keeps talking about brownies and biscuits and other things he can't eat. LOL! I had a salad with grilled chicken for lunch today. I went to the supermarket yesterday and bought the low fat cheese and some almonds and pistachios as well as a ton of chicken. FH was so funny last night. He told me 'You are not letting me adhere to the diet the way it says on the paper. Why? I ask. 'Because it says to eat until you are full and I am not full yet'. I started laughing and told him that he had two cans of tuna on his salad...that is good enough. ;)
OKay still on South Beach. I have managed to get FH and my mom to do it along with me which is a HUGE help! I have lost 7 pounds in 6 days!!!!

Re: The How Tos of South Beach
I just took the book out of the library just to check out - I'm curious, not ready to commit enough to purchase the book - looking for healthy options, not so much for losing weight at this point - I am also a vegan, so not sure if it would really be useful for me anyway....

Okay so I finished my two weeks and I lost like 12 pounds. To put it like this: I went bridal dress shopping and everything fit soo well! I haven't moved on to phase 2 yet, but will next week.
