The insane vendor...

The insane vendor...

Several weeks ago, FH called a DJ for our October wedding (DJ-1). The price was good, the package was good, but we still had some appointments with other DJ's. We went to the other appointments, it raised a few more questions, so we called DJ-1 to clarify. I should note here that EVERY DJ fills out a contract at the meeting. It's part of the pressure tactics. We go to a bridal showcase, get some other recommendations, at that point there's 3 other companies we're looking at. FH calls DJ-1 and asks for his literature (pamphlet, folder, whatever this company gives out).

We then meet with a 4th DJ. Call him DJ-2. We come home from that meeting, and there's a package from DJ-1, including a contract. The particulars on the DJ-1 contract are different than they were over the phone. We go with DJ-2. Sign his contract, send a check. We tell DJ-1 'no thanks'.

(Insert Twilight Zone Theme Here)

FH has since gotten not one but TWO calls from DJ-1 demanding our contract and deposit based on the 'verbal contract we had over the phone'.

At this point, I'm hoping he emails me instead of FH, so I can tell him that in fact I WAS there that day in law school when they taught about verbal agreements and changed terms. A$$hole.

well, think about the good side:
You didn't hire him.
Some vendors can't take NO for an answer. The best thing to do just ignore him. If he calles again, tell him to watch more Judge Judy and learn that Verbal contract doesn't mean anything.
I hate Vendors like that.. Don't they get it: NO means NO.

I can't stand vendors like that.

I love when people try to pull crap like that... b/c then I say (very calmly and sweetly). 'I'm sorry, but did I ever tell you what I do for a living?' The word 'lawyer' usually shuts them up.

Then I tell them I don't need a lesson in the law, but I highly recommend they stop calling me. You know, harassment and all that.

I hope he leaves you guys alone!!
