The little things...need help!

Hello ladies,

As the big day is getting closer I realize there are little details I have not attended to and things I am not sure whehther or not I need. I could use some help!!!

Do I really need....

1. to give out favors?
2. to have a guest book?
3. to have place card holders?
4. a cake topper?
5. to have cake servers?
6. a card box?

Also...who provides the place cards usually?

Are there any other little wedding details I should be focusing on and thinking about??

Not sure where you put your cards if you dont have a card box??? Maybe a white bag of some sort?

1. to give out favors? Not necessary but a nice gesture. Why not consider doing a donation as a favor?

2. to have a guest book? No

3. to have place card holders? No

4. a cake topper? No - maybe have the cake designer add flowers to the top?

5. to have cake servers? You can just use the ones the hall provides or register for a set and maybe someone will buy them for you.

6. a card box? Not necessary but have someplace to keep the cards in a safe place for the evening.

Also...who provides the place cards usually? The hall should provide them but some people choose to DIY them or hire someone to do them. It's totally up to you. You can also nix the cards all together and do a seating chart on an easel (I'm DIYing ours and saving a lot of time and money by doing it this way).

6. a card box? You should have something to hold the cards in, even if it's a bag

1. to give out favors? Nice touch, and I plan to, but no one really does anymore. The last 5 weddings I went to were all donations to a charity.

2. to have a guest book? No, I had one at my shower and of 60 people, 4 signed it. LOL

3. to have place card holders? Nope. I dont, mine are free standing because they fold tent style.

4. a cake topper? I am struggling with this myself. I dont think so, because they can do flowers on top.

5. to have cake servers? Yes.

6. a card box? Yes, unless you want to hold all your envelopes all night. lol.

Do you need favors? NO But you should do something. A donation? Our favors were truffles from A Fresh Approach - affordable and easy.

Guest book? NO No one will notice if this is missing! Only about 30 people signed ours and we had 140 guests!

Place card holders? NO But place cards yes! The RH will supply you with place cards. Our were ugly so I bough the plain ones from Micheal's and printed them from my comp - very easy! And totally done last minute!

A cake topper? NO But it looks REALLY nice! I wouldn't skimp on this. Wedding Factory Direct has a nice selection. Pick a sparkly letter and call it a day. And they ship super fast. I think mine came in like 2 days.

Cake servers? NO I don't think anyone is looking at what you're cutting the cake with. This is strictly for sentimental purposes.

A card box? NO But this another thing you should have just because it will make it so much easier for everyone! Go to Micheal's and just buy the ivory or white box the have and call it a day!

I'd suggest you have a cardbox or at least someone in charge of the cards. The RH staff is not allowed to hold them for you or to even handle them at all.

But otherwise- no you don't need any of those things. People hardly signed my guestbook, nobody cared about the favors- they all just wanted the candy and photobooth pics, we had a cake topper but it's unnecessary and if you decide it's too plain, you can always ask your florist for some flowers to put on top, if you don't have custom cake servers or toasting flutes, the RH will provide them! HTH!
