the LIW search engine (Ron please read too)

Hi,

I sent an e-mail to LIW a few days ago about the search engine to look up posts (not about the search box all the way up top on the right side of the page, but the search link next to 'logout' and 'help' buttons)

My question was this: when you limit by date, say the last 6 months, you assume it will limit it to any post within the last six months. However I was doing a search for a post that I knew was done probably in August but to make sure I put in 'past 6 months' and the posts started with the last date of April 2003 and went back chronologically. April was six months ago but it seems that it's excluding any posts that are *within* the 6 month period I want to search and giving me posts *from* six month ago and going back in time. Hence, I am getting April, March, Feb...etc.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I've tired it a number of times, even with posts that I posted and I get the same sort of result.

Ron, you answered me but I don't think your answer helped. You had said because of the limit on 300 posts for a search result I may have not been able to see my post. But that is not the case - what I am searchign for shouldn't bring back that many results in the first place, and even if it did I think it would be most helpful - if you don't mind me suggesting - that the most recent posts for the search be posted on top and descend in chronological order.

I hope I'm making sense.

I asked that too and only got the reply about the 300 post limit. But I think I worded my e-mail to LIW in a way that they didn't realize what I meant.

That's why I posted here.

I am having problems with the search feature also.

I was trying to find one of my posts from the previous day and none of them came up in the search.

I haven't had any luck with searches by name by forum.

I liked it better the way it was before.
I can't find anything.

I posted this too...I feel the search is useless now (sorry LIW )

Oh my word I thought it was I, but now I see that others have had the same problem it makes me feel not so craz after all. I wrote it to him to tell him that I think this new search is no good, it does not work and it brings up so few of my post from a while back.

I must agree with Erica, this search feature needs to be re-worked, it is no good.
